00-01 > 02-03 Ghetto Headlight Conversion?

Here's the deal, I bought myself some 5.5gen OEM headlights but i have a 2000 max w/ a 2003 bumper.

I'm trying to avoid spending money on the harness from DaveB because I just spent a pretttty large amount on these headlights, but I can't seem to find a write-up anywhere that doesn't use the harness. There HAS to be a way.

Can anyone shed some light?

You have to have the harness. Did you get the new clips, too?

There are clips that go on the bottom of the headlights that hold them to the radiator support. One for each headlight. The clips for 02-03 are different from 00-01, so you have to have the new clips. Just ask DaveB, he has them for like 2 bucks each

Is the bumper necessary for this conversion?

I ended up getting the harness from a parted out ebay car for $15 and wiring that way. Worked out really well, too.

Don't do anything stupid I would just buy the harness do the smart thing since you already spent the cash on the lights!!

VOM, connectors for 9005 bulb(hi beam), connector for HID, soldering iron and get busy easy as 1,2,3. the 2000-01 are H4's use the lowbeam power and ground for the HID ballast and use the H4 hibeam wire and ground for the 9005.

Should not be too bad. But some experience required.

i did mine with fx turn signal sockets and a different set of 194 plugs. for the headlights i used a 9005 repair kit and the wiring to an aftermarket hid kit to have a plug for the hid.

if you had to buy the parts it wouldnt be worth doing, but i happened to have them around to make it work.

the blinker plugs on the 02-03 headlights are actualy the same as foglight male plugs, just shave a groove and it fits. and the actualy headlight plugs, you can try the knock sensor plug, but obviously shaving a groove also. as far as the high beam plug, you can just use a universal HID ballast plugs, itl fit right into the 9005/6 bulb.
