Sunroof will open but not close please help!

Hey guys, I have a 96 Maxima SE with a sunroof. The sunroof opens but won't close. I can only close it by hand after the switch "thinks" it;s fully close. But it still won't close flush wiht my roof. Can anyone please help me! I think it's gonna rain today

I have the exact same problem. what you gotta do is when u close it by hand, there is a metal slider thing(not sure what its really called)on each side of the sunroof that holds the glass up. Slide those metal things backward and it will push the glass up to be plush with the roof. Heres a pic.

Same setup for all 4th gens so yes it happens to the 97-99, it's based on use and care so maybe tomorrow a cable will break maybe never.

I hope I don’t sound condescending but check your tracks thoroughly as I found a stick was preventing me from closing my sunroof. I was thrilled to find this post but upon trying the method described I was unable to move the sunroof. Upon further inspection I noticed all kinds of crap in there. Also note that towards the front of the sunroof are drains and I had sticks clog those (years ago) and the water will then drain in the car. Hope this helps.
