Starting Problems (when the car sits in the sun)

I've read many other treads and I haven't come across anyone else that has had my same problem.

Ok,I have a 1999 Max, so when my car sits in direct sunlight for a few hours I can't start the car. About 8 months ago my car was broken into and broke my ignition. I replaced the immobilizer, key cylinder and ignition switch and the car was starting fine. A few months later it began to not start when I turn the key and I had to remove the key reinsert and the turn over. Over time it has gotten progressively worse, now I have to turn the wheel, press the brake and then try to turn it over. This worked for a while but now the car has left me 5 times trying to turn it over for more then 30 mins
I figured its got to be an electric problem either ignition switch, relay etc.

When the car sits in the shade it starts fine. It only gives my problems when it sits in the sun. Any ideas cause I'm lost and confused.

Heat decreasing conductivity of metals/semimetallics. Sry that's all I have for you, hopefully someone will come up with ideas.

Pretty weird problem. The fact that the security system has been tampered with makes me think it's something to do with that, but the sunlight correlation says maybe not. Does the security light turn on with the key in the 'on' position? If so, it's something to do with that. If not, keep hunting (and don't rule out that it could still be NATS). Good luck.

Try changing the ignition switch. My car had the same problem. I let my car sit in the sun during class and the car wouldn't turn over when I got back. After changing the switch it started up quickly.

In my opinion, you could rule out something with the break in. I have a 97' and I am having the exact same problems. I have not researched it enough yet, but im almost sure it has to be something electrical in the ignition. Try moving your key up or down (not hard) when the car wont start. Mine has gotten progressively worse as well, so its something not getting good contact (explains why moving the key a little helps). I've ruled out the starter and worked my way back to the ignition, but havent tore into it yet. Hopefully ill know something shortly and can help more...

If the car wont start at all (bc of the key switch) you can bypass the ignition by turning the key on and using a jumper wire from the battery (postive) to the starter. That will also insure that it is not your starter... I leave a small jumper wire in my car just incase it wont start haha
