need help on 2001 motor swap!

im having a crazy issue with my 01 swap on a 4th gen i did a swap put the 01 motor in but im still using the regular 98 max tranny.
But the problem relates to the 2001 torque converter

Now everytime i put the tranny in the motor, the motor refuses to spin for me to bolt the converter into the flywheel
but when i take the tranny out i could spin it freely

Does anyone know why the motor refuses to spin ??

Make sure you have the converter seated in the trans, it takes a bit of juggling around to get it seated properly. When you bolt the engine and trans back together try and get the flywheel and converter positioned so that both bolt holes line up as close as you can get them. When you snug them together with the bolts make sure you can spin the converter with your finger through the starter hole while tightening 2 of the side bolts equally. Sometimes you just have to disconnect and start over, have patience it will come together. Don't force it.

u need to bolt the torque converter to the drive plate first before you completely put the transmission on. its a really tight fit but the tranny will fit on afterwards if you bolt the torque converter on first. otherwise, put the tranny up there, but dont completely mount it or put the shaft into the torque converter.

I haven't had good luck bolting the converter to the drive plate first but you can try. I've done about 6 of these now and installing with the converter on the trans has worked well.
