Yes, another bomz intake thread...im sorry!

Ok, I know users hate these threads. However, I have been searching for hours and can't come up with a conclusive answer to this simple problem. Here is something similar to what I purchased (No extra hoses were included):

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BOMZ-...Q5fAccessories

Now, the maf that came with the kit doesnt reach the hoses from the engine. I mean I could buy new hoses if I needed to but I'm not sure if that is what the problem is.

I will take the downpipe into the fender but that will be after I get the initial install correct first. Here are the two problems I am at. Someone tell me which picture is the correct way of doing it, or if they both are incorrect.

Or.......

I trully am a noob at this since this is my first time but you cant blame me for trying it on my own. Most of my searches didnt help because they provided broken links.

Any help would be appreciated. Also, the how-to thread was missing pictures so I was confused their too. Thanks.

It should have come with the extended hoses so you could use their mid-pipe. For now install it the way you have it in the first pic and once you get the extended hoses, replace the stock resonator with their mid-pipe.

Yeah, thats what I figured. I was sitting staring at the car and was like "this cant be right." Ok i guess Ill just go ahead and install everything like in the first pic then drill the hole in the fender. Where is the best spot to drill the hole? Under battery or right where the relay box is?

Install everything first, then see where the piping hits the fender and drill there.

Yes, the stock resonator is to long to work with the kit. I have to wait and get new tubing so that it will fit the kits mid pipe. Anyone know the tubing size?

I actually got the hoses to work. Thanks to chrisman, all I have to do is drill the hole to the fender. Hopefully the relay box isnt to hard to move.

God do I need to clean my engine bay haha

I bought the Injen intake, it fit perfect, they gave me the extra hose I needed, MAF adapter, and I didn't have to cut anything.

Took about an hour since I took my time with the install.

I'm sure you paid less but I think I got my money's worth.

Hopefully you will get it solved soon, as the intake sound on these cars is killer!!

Yup, got it solved. Just have to drill that hole tomorrow. I already have a template for it.

Finished pics for anyone who cares:

Still going to buy some header wrap and I have to seal the hole I drilled with something. I also need to get a new hose.

be care with the accordion coupler that you have connected to the throttle body, if you didnt support your intake (bolted down) then the OEM accordion coupler takes all the moment of the intake moving back and forth. It ends up tearing and you could have stalling issues, or worse.

Just get a thicker reinforced coupler, quick fix and youll never have to worry about it again.

I have had the intake on for about a week now. I personally love it. My car accelerates so much smoother and quicker now. It is a bit louder than stock but it is a good sound. This is a great $50 upgrade for anyone looking to add a bit more hp.

yes, but then it would be a short ram. Without the stock funnel and heat shield u will be suckin in too much warm air and will lose HP down low.

THe OP has a CAI. THey very nice. If u want true CAI, u have to drill. YUP!

^^ No. unless you install it incorrectly. The injen intake on the other hand doesnt require drilling, but IMO isnt as good as this

Drilling is very easy. All your doing is drilling into very thin steel that sits flat. Its simple, cheap, and yields great performance.

Btw: I cleaned up my engine bay. Doesnt look as dirty. Also installed a strut bar and painted my spark plug cover blue. Looks cool
