SUPRISE! and your opinion please!

I bought my max a month ago, i buy a megan catback exhaust system, doesnt fit properly so i get it done at a garage. While i was underneath my car taking the old exahust off(sawing rusty bolts) i look at my rear struts, i take a closer look and they are KYB GR-2's!! Ok,i was happy. I wanna buy tein s type lowering springs, and was planning on going tokico struts. Are the GR-2 gas struts good enough for lowering springs? If they are, i can just buy 2 fronts and save $$$. Lemme know what you think guys!

I've never seen a man so happy to have GR2s, they are the cheapest struts you can get. But like he said, GR2s aren't meant for lowering and might blow out. You might get away with it if you keep it less than 1.5" or something but hey the worst that can happen is they blow out and you have to get new struts.

Maybe not as easily as the fronts would blow, but with a drop that agressive, you will blow your stock (or GR2s) struts in a matter of time. You'll want to look for adjustable struts (KYB AGX or Tokico Illumina) for S Techs.

its funny tho, anyone outside this org would say GR2's are dope. Here we kno better lol

Nismo95max,

It all depends on how much u wanna spend and how the ride feels now. If its all messed up then go new. If its straght buy 2 more GR2's for the front, lower it, call it day. GR2 will accomodate a mild drop.

S-techs are nowhere near mild...they are 2.2/1.8.

"People, please be more descriptive in your subject titles. For example, "cone intake," "red/clears," "suspension," "emblems," are not subject titles...they are isolated words. Describe the main problem/question/comment in the subject line ... please! Don't type one or two words and make the rest of the Org try to guess what you're trying to say. "

im sorry but i agree with xfactor22, this isnt some childish myspace website were you can type w/e you want. i see mods lock up threads all the time for the lack of a better title, and its because of the lame title thats there's soo many lame repetitive threads in here. especially newer members, not to say i dont see a few good questions by newer members. so, the title should have read, " should i put matching gr2's in the front, or replace them all??"

This vehicle has been on dropzones+stock struts for years.

Just sayin.... *knocks on wood*

Money is an issue? Buy the springs now, then fronts, then rears later... Or do whatever you feel like, I've heard of people mix matching front rear struts for years, it's nothing out of the ordinary. Hell it's your car, I wouldn't do it based on a performance aspect, but maybe you don't do Gymkhana and AutoX, so it wouldn't matter, do what you can afford/maintain.

Of course Illuminas or Koni Yellows are your best bet, but you don't HAVE to get the .org reccomendation, which is only based on other people reading other people's opinions.

A friend of mine has been on Tokico Blues+Dropzones for years, no problems either, rides a bit better than mine too.

YES i also agree that a title of a thread should NOT be controversial, which you both are making it. So thanks for nothing. Everyone else is giving advice without complaining. So, if its not myspace, dont cry like it is .

But thanks aachshun. The tein s type go 2.2 and 1.8 which is a little lower than most rides, and i just dont know if my ride will be bouncy with the gr-2's. I will look into everything before purchase.
