Squeaking in engine???

So I think I've seen this somewhere but couldn't find it...

Somewhere in my engine it makes a squeaking sound while I drive. Kind of like the sound when belts go bad. Sounds like maybe driver's side. It doesn't do it at idle or when I am accelerating hard. Only while I accelerate a little while driving, like just enough to maintain a speed.

Somewhere I thought someone said that this is the timing chain tensioners. Can anyone confirm that??

If so, what am I looking at as far as cost to repair?

My car only has 32,000 miles on it. Should this be happening already???

Well i doubt it's your tensioners with that low mileage, your car is under warranty why don't take it to the dealer and let them find it????And tensioners on these cars really don't go bad it seems that the people here whose tensioners are going bad are probably rougher(meaning they driver their cars harder than your average driver) on the cars than most drivers. Sounds like it a belt take it to the dealer before your basic warranty runs out so if its something not under the power-train it will be covered unless you need new belts that wear and tear. You should replace them about every 30k anyhow. And BTW if it is by any chance your tensioners which I doubt it you should be covered under the 5/60 power-train warranty.

Actually the idler pulley bearing typically goes bad. The part is 35$ and very easy to change. But as stater prior, why not take it to the dealership.

Well my warranty ended a couple months ago... 3 years.

I guess I just wanted to be prepared when I go in there. I don't want to get blind sided with some dealership bullspit.

Also if it was something simple I am more than capable to fix myself.

If anything, take it to them so they can tell you what's wrong. I'm sure they will give you an outrageous "estimate" cost... if it's $100 or less, I'd just let them do it.. but chances are slim.

At least you will know what it is...

And don't worry about the timing chain stuff... you have a 2007... you're good.

Thank God!!

I knew I read somewhere about the timing chain and that's what it sounds like. But I was really hoping it'd be something else. Don't want to have to drop a thousand or two on a 3 year old engine!!

Well, even if it were the t.c., that would be covered under the longer powertrain warranty. 5yr/60,000m.
