this ABS dash trim kid, need your opinion

i got 98 SE. Need to replace cracked radio trim. I like GLE's one with it's pocket... but it is wooden trim so i'd also need shifter trim to mach... ok but even if i replace both looks like something is missing... ??? yes, why the heck there is no such think like OEM wooden clock trim and wooden vent?? that would look so much better. then i found this kit (look below) which is made of something else then vinyl, that make me think that would be better quality, and even if it wont stick someday, why don't you use super glue to make it permanent?! (i heard even OEM wooden could peel) anyway does anyone have one like that is it worth to buy? any photo? (about 100$ on ebay)
and yes it could looks like too much in some places but i don't have to glue it everywhere...right?
ps. that stupid photo make me think about put big touch screen radio in bose unit hole expensive , hmm but that would look cool right? and i would leave stock pocket , hmmm

OEM Wood doesnt peel. at least not for me IMHO tho, that kit looks tacky and cheap. Especially with the wood around all the side vents and the gauges. Even my GLE doesnt have that.

but nobody force you to install those additional vent/gauges trim
If the OEM wooden trims for clock n temp was available i wouldn't bother with such a kit,

but doesn't black plastick trim in SE looks cheap too?
let's see others opinion

What? I have zero idea what you're trying to say. All i know is, most if not all wood kits look cheap, thats my opinion.

Heres what my GLE looks like with OEM wood, and my dads M35sport w/ the sport only tinted aluminum trims. I like the aluminum trims more than wood, but i think wood ads to the sleeper status of the maxima.

Rushed pics, sorry for poor quality

I like it, but it's a bit overdone... It's too shiny for my liking, and he went overboard w/ the gauges n such...

bottom line is : what looks more cheap? : maxima SE with stock black trims or with pictured kit? because i wouldn't put GLE's wooden trims- for me it looks like unfinished job-trims should be wooden all the way up to vents.
How about wooden switches on doors? only this spot is wooden rest of door panel is tan color. looks funny, so lets better leave switches tan too.

thanks for sharing pics, man alum trims looks cool, but i think only in newer cars, just wanna make my max looks more luxury

If this picture IS correct, in '99 Nissan DID install wood trim around the clock and the climate control unit.

wood trim all round was always available, it was up to the buyers preference to have the dealer put it on

I don't think it looks cheap or tacky, mind you I'm not a big fan of wood trim but it doesnt look bad. I wouldn't do the speedo bezel and on the side vents I'd probably have to flip a coin on it but the whole center console up to the top two vents I think looks nice and its probably what it should've looked like from factory for the GLE models.

I say go for it and if you dont like it, just sell it install and get new trim pieces for your car. You can get a headunit like that for about 400 bucks on amazon

So then, one should simply waltz over to the dealer and ask for it then....

Anyone know a dealer nearby and can check prices? Coz I'd probably be the first in line!

NJ and Wiz got dope interior

I love wood grain. I used to have the adhesive tape plastic trim. It peeled in the sun. Cost me 20 bucks tho. The panels will look better and last longer.

To the OP,
The dash kits are held on with 3M tape. They attach to your exhisting dash trim. No need to glue anything.

if it is available at dealer i would also like to know prices, but i think they would sell whole thing with switches , making prices higher for stuff that you don't need...
