front end rebuild

Hi everyone. Well heres my story, my wifes 99 maxima se has 130,000 miles. So the front end has lost its response and it has a sloppy feel. Ive purchased new control arms, sway bar bushings, end links, stuts shocks with new mounts, new isolator sleeve and h&r springs.ok i was gonna have someone do this for me. But ive done suspension work on my mustangs myself (front and rear control arms springs)The front wheel drive system intimidates me.Can i do this myself?Do i need a air ratchet set?and do i need to change the bearing?Any help and advice ill take. thanks guys

Shouldnt be too difficult. Get yourself a spring compressor for the struts. A 1/2" air gun is helpful for the large nut on the strut. No need to change a bearing if its good, be sure to properly torque the axle nut if you remove it.

Biggest difference between front wheel and rear wheel is the axle... once you get the nut off of the end - the rest is basic mechanic work.

If you happen to be close to Louisiana, I'll help you do it for free. I've got air tools, a spring compressor, etc. and have done all that work on my own car.

I wouldn't buy an air compressor and a pneumatic impact wrench just for this job, unless you think you'll use them on other stuff in the future. Otherwise, either use a breaker bar or buy a corded electric impact wrench (like a Milwaukee for example). Removing all those big nuts, and more importantly compressing the springs, is a lot easier with an impact wrench.

Considering we don't know the condition of your car, we can't answer that for you. Go to a trustworthy mechanic and ask for an inspection and quote. This will give you a list of parts he would replace, and prices to beat on the interwebs for parts.
