Hate the new maxima styling

I was at 7th Gen forum and someone got a new 2010 Maxima and I absolutely hate the styling of it. In matter of fact, I stopped buying Maxima after 4 Gen. Ever since Nissan moved the design studio to So California, the styling of Nissan vehicles keeps getting worse and worse. I liked 3rd Gen styling but I think the 4th Gen styling is still the best looking Maxima so far. 5th Gens still have some lines and curves carried over from 4th Gen, but what is up with the 6th Gen? And with the new 7 Gen, the styling is changed completely again and carries no continuity whats so ever and it just looks fat and heavy, so much for Nissan's flagship "sport sedan". Infinity is no better neither.

Actually, I agree. The 4th gen styling is the best. Especially the 97-99 models. The 5th gen isnt bad in my opinion either. I think it is similar, just a wider and bigger model of the 4th gen. The 6th gens look like crap in my opinion. Worst gen of them all. It looks too ghetto if you will. I dont have enough exposure with the 7th gens to say whether they are worthy imo. I think they are def. better than the 6th gens though. I think it would be awesome if Nissan reintroduced a new model of the 4th gen similar to the new Mustangs and Challengers.

I also like the the 3rd and 4th generation Maximas the most. The 6th and up generation is luxurious but it feels like its missing that sporty look of a thinner and kind of skinnier car.

But to be honest the reason I love the 4th generation is because it looks similar to the 240SX

Wow, I never thought this threat would stir the pot so much and it was not my intention to trash other gens. I just thought, since our cars are old, but we still keep them, add mods, etc, so there must be something that we really like about this car to make us keep holding on them. To me, the styling, the size, the power and performance of this car are perfectly balanced, it is a very good family sedan, very reliable yet fast and sporty, it always sets our cars apart from Camry and Accord. From 5th gen up, I see those good characters of the car becoming less and less distinctive and though the car is gaining more power every year, the performance is not getting a lot of boost. The car become heavier, turning radius become larger. Nissan brought up Altima line to match Camry and Accord line and market Max as sport sedan, well, the market reacted, the sales keep going south and Nissan has to offer a big incentive to get car sold, I don't see that happens to Camry or Accord. I read comparison test between 7 gen max and Pontiac G8, no surprise, G8 won. If Nissan really want to make Max the true "sport sedan", they should make it rear wheel drive, bigger rims and shinny chrome do not make it "sporty". I was at dealership the other day having my Titan serviced, I checked both 2010 max and 2010 Hyundai Genesis, the max is bigger, more luxuries and expensive, but I will buy Hyundai Genesis, it is real luxury car, has more power, rear wheel drive, good looking and out performs max for about same amount of money.

OP, did you just suggest that my M is an ugly car? You're kidding right?

The M is one of the better looking sport sedans out there. Especially the sport version.

Your on crack man.

I am sure that plenty of people on here would have to disagree.

Toyota made some pretty good looking sporty cars after the supras , but they were four cylinders. I would rather have a sleeper than rice, but that's just me.

I do not necessarily disagree with what you said, I should add, the car buying process for most people, is to decide first what type of car they want, so if I want a SUV, I won't be allured to a family sedan not matter how hot the car it looks. Before come to the dealership, people have pretty much done their researches and have locked down few models, even so, the styling/look is still the single most important factor to make people "like" or "dislike" a car. You often hear people say "that is a hot looking car and I want one", but you rarely hear people say "wow, that car has 6 cylinders and I want one".

That's why you get the best of both by modding. I don't like the front end of a 4th gen when left stock, but with a nice looking body kit it looks very special.
