Muffler problem?

Help!...95 max started to make noise when its in gear(auto D), just in the beginning when i press gas, and then it stops....when i rev it on park NO NOISE at all, only engine sound....to me sounds like a muffler, pipe problem....i looked under the car for any holes...found nothing...i moved the exhaust pipes around...No sound....what else should i check for.....ALSO in the morning there is no sound at all, when i get to work on the lights right before work(about 20 min drive)..... then engine is hot then the noise starts...what should i check next?

check your heat-shields underneath. the flex-pipe on my zx2 was rattling while going parking lot speeds, had to have it welded. get underneath the car and try shaking stuff to see if you get the same sound.

with the car running if you hold your hand over the end of the tail pipe you should get presure built up and more air will rush out when you release. if there is a leak you may be able to here it better when it covered also less air will rush out. Do you smell anything funny like a bad cat? i assume no cel either. hows your flex pipe?

if you want to test it for leaks, better put a rug in (for a short period of time, of course) and start looking for any leaks. but i really do think it's your heat shields/flex pipe or something along those lines.

if you have a large hose clamp like the one youd use for a dryer duct ive used that for rattling heat shields on my foxbody

but the heat shield is just a metal part separating before the exhaust pipe and the car body?

when you get under the car it will look like a piece of square metal on the top side of your exhaust you should be able to tap it with a wrench or something hard and listen for the vibration... i had the same problem with my civic and took it to a muffler shop and just had them cut it off.. no more rattle, and it only cost me like 10 bucks and 10 minutes

My heatshield did the same thing made rattling noise So I just remove it. This one was attached to my Catalytic Converter. On your second photo it's part no# 15851 or 16033. Which is the Catalytic Converter and the heat shield is attached to that. The heat shield cause be already rusted and breaking apart.
