Car revs to 1.5k then drops to 1k. TPS issue?

Hey

So I noticed this happening to my car the first time I took it to the 1/4 mile. Regardless of where it happened, if I was to drive the car for 5 minutes then stop at an intersection or wherever the car would stay at 1.5k rpm then seconds later would drop to 1k rpm (where I have set screw). Now sometimes it doesn't do it and other times it does. My idle is great. It just pisses me off that the car will randomly rev as I come close to a stop or if I drive and hold the clutch/neutral on the highway.

Could my TPS be at fault? I'm using a really old one which might cause the issue (probably has 260 xxx km's on it). If im correct I used my 4th gen TPS on the 00vi Swap. Not sure I'm correct though, been a while since I did the initial 00vi purchase/prep work.

Car still drives well and has no issue as I'm on the gas/cruising, just when I'm at a light or place it in neutral while driving.

try resetting the ECU by unplugging the battery for a bit and see if that helps.

Ive been having the same problem, I just installed my new TPS today and cleared the codes, fired the car up and no change. Im gonna drive it for a few days and see if anything changes.
I was also told that the problem could be the transmission, the neutral safety switch (plug) could be faulty.
And like you said somedays it will do it and other days it wont. Is your CEL on? I threw the codes P0120 TPS, and P0173 Fuel Bank Trim 2.

My idle always jumps when going into gear, at least 1500 rpms or more.

Have you tested your TPS yet?

No this did not help.

I have no codes pertaining to the TPS, I have not tested out the TPS. The car was fine before and this happened out of the blue. I'll measure the TPS.

Sorry to bump up an old thread - I have the exact same problem for quite some time now - ever since I did my manual conversion (using AT ECU).

I haven't wired up the neutral/clutch switch - I'm starting to think that sgtboehn might be onto something.

Does anyone have any more info on this? does the ECU take into account if the car is in neutral/clutch engaged and use that information to control the IACV?

My car will do this when its colder out from time to time...not really sure what it is doing but I feel as though I have messed with enough things (IACV, TPS, etc) to try and get the car to idle correctly. I can live with it when it occasionally idles around 1200-1300 before dropping back down to normal when its cold out.

Same problem here, I just assumed that it's a vacuum leak and not really worried about it.
