Lowering Springs ** Poll **

Okay there are many threads on lowering springs. Mostly with the "Which springs should I go with...." followed by "The springs I ride on are the very best and everything else $ucks"

It's not about that, different springs offer different qualities.

I've included a poll but please comment on:

1. Which springs are you on?
2. How do you like your drop? (feel free to post a pic if you like)
3. How do you like the ride quality?
4. Did you switch from other springs?
5. Are you still on stock shocks or struts.

Here is the data I have on springs:
Eibach---------- 2" front, .8" rear
Progress-------- 1.8" front, .75" rear Spring Rate Front : 180 lbs/in Rear: 350 lbs/in
Tein S-Tech ----1.6” Front, .5” Rear Spring Rate: Front: 196 lbs Rear 302 lbs
H&R-------------1.4" front, 1.3" rear.
Intrax-----------2.2" front, 1.5" rear
Canuck Motorsport (CM)-----1.75" front, 1" rear also see 1.6” front and .9” rear
Springs that have a low Spring Rate are soft, while springs that have a high Spring Rate are stiffer.

If you have used something else post it and I will add it to the list.

1. Which springs are you on?
PROGRESS
2. How do you like your drop? (feel free to post a pic if you like)
The drop is perfect.

3. How do you like the ride quality?
The ride is great, not bouncy but firm like it should be.
4. Did you switch from other springs?
Yes I did, I had Eibachs, they rode great but didn't give me a uniform drop, looked like me *** was sagging, still had a big gap in front.

5. Are you still on stock shocks or struts.
No Im not, im on KYB-GR2, perfect combination with Progress springs.

1 - Tein
2 - Not too low. Sits just right for me.
3 - I like the ride quality. I don't feel too much of a difference from the stock ride. Very comfortable.
4 - Had stock springs.
5 - Still on stock shocks/struts.

A shop, between 300 to 500. Find someone local on the boards. I charge 100 to 150 but that wont do you any good.

My answers are pretty much the same as Raz's except that I came to the Progress springs directly from a factory setup.

On progress springs:

Well yeah, what they said it should give you and what it actually gives are two different things. The gap was a lot bigger with Eibachs then with Progress. I don't even have a system in the back and it looked like the a$$ was sagging, I can't imagine what it will look like with a system in the back. Like crap probably. The ride was great, can't complain there, just not a uniform drop. Progress gave me that uniform drop I wanted. Still have a gap, not as much as the eibach's but still have one.

If I am reading that right, both the front and rear drop 2inches.

That wouldn't be good to drop them the same, front needs to be a little lower to remove gap and 2inches in the rear is too much imo.

I believe you can still get them from Brian. That is where I got my first set.
You want to call him, that is the best way to reach him.

you can also contact Justin from importcarpartsplus.com, they are on the sponsors forum side. I went with them, quick shipping, no hassle, quality product.

Apollos, as for your poll ->

1. Which springs are you on?
Progress
2. How do you like your drop?
best drop/stance IMHO
3. How do you like the ride quality?
Love it, it's firm which is what I was looking for
4. Did you switch from other springs?
nope, had stock
5. Are you still on stock shocks or struts.
nope, running KYB-GR2's, again, best combo IMO

I just installed some Tein Springs today and I must say I'm quite pleased with the ride. The drop is subtle and it really does improve the looks of the car. I took some measurements and the front measures 27 inches from the top of the wheel well to the ground, the rear is 27 3/4 inches.

1. Which springs are you on? Tein S
2. How do you like your drop? (feel free to post a pic if you like). Not allowed to post pics yet
3. How do you like the ride quality? Ride is great not to firm or bouncy
4. Did you switch from other springs? stock springs
5. Are you still on stock shocks or struts. stock shocks and struts.

I am thinking of buying lowering springs for my 08 maxima.
Its helpful that i found this thread.

I am confused what to go with Progress or Eibach?

There is another thread "Best Suspension Setup" .. It mentions that Eibach lowering springs and KYB AGX is the best setup.

A couple of people here said that they didn't have uniform stance with Eibach springs..

Here i also read that Gr2 and Progress springs..

I am confused can you guys help me make a decision, i dont have the money to swap things around more than one time.

I want to get the right thing the first time.

Very simple, there's no KYB AGX for our application, Only KYB GR-2, done with that. Now on to the springs. Progress and Eibach both ride great. On paper the eibach is supposed to be lower the progress but in the real world, it's the other way around. I had both Eibach and Progress and like them both a far as comfort. I switched to progress because it gave me a more uniform drop, meaning the front and rear fender gap were close and made it look even.

Do i need an alignment kit with this?

djdownfawl -> see post #19 as to who you can contact.

I had the same dilemma and after doing numerous searches and tons of reading decided to go with the Progress springs and the KYB-GR2's. Best decision ever! The car has a very aggressive stance, no sag anywhere and handling has improved. You probably want to check the alignment after the install just in case....

Hope this helps man

I'd like to start a new thread for this question, but since I'm new I'm not allowed to yet.

I Just bought an 06 Maxima. I had no intentions to modify this car or lower it, but I do notice the factory stance is very level, leaving the gap between the tire and fender larger in the front than the rear.

I'd really just like to make the gaps even. Has anybody ever just lowered the front? Is there anyway to buy lowering springs for the front of my Maxima without buying the whole set.

Thanks,

Derek

the ride is a bit stiffer than the stock but I was looking for that so it worked out perfect for me. IMHO I think that progress coupled with KYB is the best combo out there man

I went with progress springs and kyb gr2's.

Still waiting on the parts.

Let me know if there are any other critical things i should keep in mind before during or after installation.

I am assuming alignment for front and back is a must.

Thanks guys!

old thread i know but ive been on Eibach Pro with KYB for about 4 years on my 04. I absolutely hate the KYB's. They are too soft for the hard spring and bounce and bang on every moderate bump. Bigger bumps forget about it...
People that drive on flat nice roads all the time wouldnt notice.
im about to buy new struts/shocks and wanted to see if anyone was running Monroes?
