Bumper/Lip Chipps

Well after many miles I have tons of chips over the front of the bumper cover and especially the Stillen lip

I have a feeling that the paint doesnt adhear to the plastic as well as say a quater panel. What are you guys going NOT to get chips on the front ? (and no bra)

I wanna go and get the front clip painted, meaning bumper, fenders and lip but I just know its going to happend once again.

Lemme know what you guys think

Thanks
matt

Had the same issue, but include people parking and running into my bumper in the mix. I just replaced the bumper cover myself because it was so bad. The only thing I can think of besides the standard bra's is one of those clear film bras : similar to this:

Anything up front and down low is going to get hammered with road rash.
If you have it resprayed, have the shop put lots of flex into the paint. That will help prevent some of the chips from happening. You'll still get marks where rocks impact it, but the chip size is greatly reduced.

If you go the clear bra route make sure you get a good quality brand, dont skimp because cheaper ones tend to oxidize just like the plastic headlights but looks way worse.

be aware that cheaper clear bra's sometime have been known to bond the glue to your paint. They only have about a 5 year life on them and need to be re-done. You need a complete re-paint if the glue/adhesive bonds to your paint. Sorta defeats the purpose don't ya think

for me 3m guard all the way.

I know this is a loaded question, but how much does a shop, a good shop, charge to paint bumper, lip, grille and fenders ? If I take off the parts and bring them to the shop

key reason why my lip kit is flat black. I have to repaint the bottom of the front lip about every 4 months. I dont get many chips in the bumper though

Not sure if there is a difference in price if you leave it on the car or not. The cost comes from the amount of paint and clear that they have to purchase...but if you say the whole front half of the car, I will estimate $600.

It will be more than that, unless you know someone at a body shop.

My local shop charges $300 for the bumper cover and $150 for the front lip alone. You might get a better price because the paint is already mixed, but it might not matter to them.
