Question about little braided wire attached to cat

What the heck is it? It looks like a ground to me. There are copper connectors that go around a stud on the cat on one end and around an exhaust hanger bolt on the other. I'm replacing the exhaust and pull it out as a whole piece, I forgot to disconnect that stupid wire and it snapped under the weight. Is that piece important enough for me to jury rig something in it's place? It's getting hot outside and I don't feel like rigging anything!!

It's a 2nd O2 sensor ground. My is broken and it isn't throwing any codes. I am going to fix mine when replace the rusted cat bolts.
