I just did my front driver side bearing replacement two weeks ago. The projection went well, and I was very careful with all bolt torqued to the right spec. However, I noticed minor clicking noise today when I turned all the way to the right in a parking lot. (no noise when turned left). This is a 95 Max with 125K on the clock. I am the original owner and aware that I have a 15 year old axle. However, I still like to have some advice of what I should start looking into?

why are raxles anything but more expensive? Don't they ask a core in return? So how much better can they be using stock parts just like any other company that rebuilds cv's. Maybe im wrong what do raxles cost?

To repair the problem properly you'll need to get new cv joint axles either the left side that's bad or both( which I really recommend) and change them out, you can get a refurbished set from napa or you get the ones from raxles(recommended mostly). I know it's really time consuming that's why I never took the time to do them myself.GL man

 

Are you able to do the repair yourself? Is there a budget concern? If you're doing it yourself and want to keep the cost down then I would get both sides from raxles. If you're going to pay someone to do the job you could just get the napa ones to offset some of the labor cost.

 

I wouldn't mind to do it myself; have never done it though. I don't even know what to order yet. Guess I will need to do some homework. I usually prefer the Nissan OEM than aftermarket.

 

Well, you can get Nissan OEM ones if you want...but they're over $500 each! Raxles are at least half that IIRC, and Napa cv axles run around $60-100 also IIRC. You could do the whole job for around $175-250 if you go the cheap route. You also need axle seals and most likely new trans fluid.

 

got around to doing the 99's axles. oreillys here in texas sort of like autozone.
reasonable at $60 or so each exchange. not a hard job, in fact smoother than just about ANY other work i've done on this pig

 

yea at 60 a pop with lifetime free replacement even if then go every 4 years instead of 12 i think its worth it. plus ive had autozone ones last me 5-6 years i crashed the car before they broke heh

 

Maybe you should head over to the website and read the section "We Don't Regrind" on the home page. CVs from raxles.com should be just as good if not better than newOEM parts.

I am in the process of replacing mine. The driver's side was easy, but I am having trouble with the passenger side. It is difficult to get the axle out because the pieces have rusted together. Time for the hammer and chisel, I guess.

 

yep, a no-brainer.

dont they require a core return?
