not advisable to use 4 jack stands simultaneously?

I decided to purchase an additional two jack stands to have all four wheels suspended.

But the instructions issued a warning to not have both wheels on one side suspended or wheels suspended simultaneously on both ends.

Is this true?

I have seen many pics with all 4s up and even on youtube how to videos ?

Is this overkill or just plain unsafe?

I wouldn't worry too much just put your wheels under the sides of the car so if it did fall off the jack stands it would land on the wheels, just a safety precaution.

as long as its on the jack points or on the frame well, there are really no worries as it should be balanced...AS LONG AS NO STRONG WIND COMES THROUGH..put the wheels under the car and you will be fine

get four of these, put one under each corner and then sleep under the car if you wish so. 4 jacks with 3 ton rating each = 12 tons. and our car weighs 1.3 tons. =)

That's what I use when i'm lifting the car and doing anything under the body.

thanks buddies or gals.

I just found this great thread for locations where to place the jacks.

http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...ng-up-car.html

Also note the .jpg that includes a cool drawing of the underbody with arrows of points to place the jack.

I love this site, members helping other members. That is the right type of "socialism". Power to the people.

Only reason you wouldn't want to use 4 stands at once is to avoid looking like a redneck!

I've used 4 jack stands at once, as long as the ground below is level and sturdy then you should have no problem

Rednecks don't own jackstands. We use concrete blocks.

We get pinned under cars a lot.

Is that why they made up the word redneck? Because being pinned under a car causes all the blood to rush up to your head and neck?...............................

I think I had just reached an epiphany!

You'll be perfectly fine with 4 jack stands as long as the ground is level and solid (ie concrete, not dirt), as previously stated.
