Looks like the last owner did not give it enough maintenance. The oil in the tranny was really dark when i changed it. If i cannot use it (07 tranny) , what about an 04? is it possible? My budget is really low now.. (I had unexpected economic problems..)
The problem is this: hard shift from 1st to 2nd, and sometimes from 2nd to 3rd. Whenever i go from D to R or from R to D I need to stop my car for at least 7 seconds, or the car will try to jump. It is a 5 speed automatic. The check engine was on the other day, and the code said transmission body valve. But the technician told me (while driving the car) the problem were the selenoids. Any kit I can buy to fix it? My buddy said he will help me to repair it if I get a kit.

You going backwards, the 2004 5AT had more issues than the 2006 Trannys.

Matter of Fact the 2006 had better parts in it, in your case the selenoids is shot , its not letting any line pressure for it to shift smoothly.

Your best bet is to call up a tranny shop and get some quotes , its not going to be cheap ,

Transgo shift kit + new selenoids , installtion and you may want to switch to something like amsoil fluids.

if you purchase another used tranny , which may cost from $600 and up, Plus then having someone install it = $$ plus you dont know if the tranny is good or not.

your best bet right now is to get it a tranny shop to do it for you, its the biggest headache that the 6th gen Maxima has.

Here is most ppl issue and now have to decide if its worth to fix the car or trade it in /sell it to get something else.

So make a decesion now and figure out which is better for you,

Tranny rebuilt $1200-2300

or get rid of the car, also do you have any warranty from Nissan of any sort?

is my tranny the same as that one on the sticky? I just read the last 2 pages and I will give it a try. Can I buy the defective selenoids at the same store where I will buy the kit and the gasket? My friend will help me to do this. He was an automobile technician in his country, and his garage is available.
