racingline y pipe help!!

so i got my y pipe in today and was ecstatic to install it... only problem is that all 5 bolts i need to take off are so rusty. i took it into a shop to see if they would loosen the bolts for me but they said since the pipe had a cat delete they couldnt take any part in it. does anyone know how i might be able to loosen these bolts myself without the use of a blowtorch (what the shop told me) or any shop that would be able to help me.

i live in frederick maryland but am currently in salisbury md. so pretty much anywhere in md would be awesome!

thanks guys!

try soaking the bolts in liquid wrench or wd40, a breaker car can also help

Go buy a torch, heat those nuts up, and you will be good to go.

I live in MD (20902 area).. I might be able to help, but to be honest, if you go to any auto parts store, they have the wb 40, but they also have another can. Try that one... if you need help, let me know, I can probably help you, I'm instaling my intake and my exhaust this weekend.

soak them in PB Blaster , thats is your best friend, WD does OK

We use PB blaster at the shop for rusted bolts, here is a trick also. once youve soak them.

I belive its a 14mm , you need to loosen it 3 turns, then 3 turns tighten again , as you loosen it , spray./soak some more pb blaster.

You keep turning it 3 times back and fourth , until it feels loose.

We do this if we try to keep the bolt were using, why we do this ?

Because there is threads on both end of the bolt, so the nut needs to be soak, as you turn loose and turn it back, your basically going to heat up the threads, so this way you keep it from stripping, so back and fourth and stop.

if you keep trying to loosen it more than likely the bolt is going to be hot and it will break in half.

If your NOT saving the bolts and plan on installing new metric bolts in there with lock washer, than just break them off.

If your DIY , im sure you want to keep the bolts if they are re-usuable.

again , prepare to get new bolts if its really rusted.
if your patient you can soak pb blaster and loosen the nut slowly.

Great info NiZMo. I'm a diy and just got the Racinling y pipe. All I was going to do was to soak it with PB Blaster and try it. If it didn't work, then spray more PB Blaster until I can loosen it.

Any exhaust shop would be able to help you. It's easier to get it on a lift and they can torch that off for cheap
