Just got a killer deal on 00-03 Megan OE-RS Catback
I just bought a Megan Racing OE-RS cat-back for my wife's 2003 Maxima from JDMhub.com the other day for $318.45 SHIPPED. It was on back-order and took 2 1/2 weeks to get it but well worth the wait. Seems to be very well made and for the money you can't beat it. It come with new bolts and gaskets.

It sounds great I should have on changed the exhaust a long time ago. The rear of the vehicle has to be jacked up pretty high to get the rear section to fit up over the axle if your installing without using a car lift. Also had to cut off and drill out the studs in the catalytic converter.

Buy one it is worth it and if it is to loud you can alway put a larger resonator in the b-pipe.
Glad to hear that you like the system. I looked at it about a month ago, but still haven't pulled the trigger. It was mentioned it another thread, and somebody said they could almost guarantee it would be back-ordered.
I'm curious, did the site say it was in stock when you ordered? If it's going to take 2-3 weeks to get it, I need to make sure I have time to do the install.

Thanks for the link! I need a new catback exhaust because mine is all rusted and rattles on bumps... I think I will go with this one...
What would be a reasonable price for a small garage to install it for me? $50? $100? Pay a buddy a case of beer to help me do it on a sunday afternoon?

I love the Megan catback. It does drone a little when up cruising fast down the highway 75+mph. My wife doesn't complain about it and it is her daily driver. I had to re-adjust the cat back due to a rubbing issue once because where the exhaust piping goes over the rear suspension it is a tight fit and the Megan piping is like 2.5" compared to the smaller stock piping. Other than that is is great quality for the money.
I finally bit the bullet and purchased it. Tired of hearing my rusted stock exhaust rattling on every bumps
Apparently they had 1 left in stock, so it shouldn't be too long before I receive it.
K20z1_rsx > when you say you had to lift the car pretty high, would a set of car ramps be enough for the install?

I would say the back of the car has to higher than what car ramps get it up. I had my jacked up all the way with a large 3 ton jack and it was barely enough to get fished it up and in. Have a cut off wheel handy. The exhaust bolts are always rusty and frozen it is faster to cut them off plus you get new hardware and gaskets. The cat has studs but the nuts were so rusted they wouldnt come off. So I had to cut the stud off flush with the flange of the cat and drill it out and use new bolts. It isn't hard just time consuming. Have a large hardened 5/8" drill bit ready in case u have to drill out the two cat studs.

Nice pics, good price, I was suppose to get one but everybody talking back order then found the Cattman Exhaust, but good buy since you gotta pay that just for Muffler of a HKS....
Sorry for the double post, my iPhone is acting up...

Was the test pipe longer than the stock cat? I bought a $30 eBay test pipe I am planing to install when I receive my catback but it's 13.75" long while the cat is 12.5" long... I might need to make some adjustments...?

I ordered it from JDMhub.com last Thursday and received it today, so less than a week! I'm impressed. I'll have it installed this WE. I was going to do it myself but a local exhaust shop is going to save me the headache and charge only $45... Will post sound clips when it's installed.
There are a lot of vids on youtube, even some before/after. The Megan system sounds nice but can be on the loud side for some folks. I personally like the sound of the system, gives a good "Euro M3ish rasp sound."
The quality does seem fair enough and the only complaints I have ever seen are the hangers which can be tightened with an adjustable metal band. Plus I love the look of the tips. Great bang for the buck in my opinion.
I think HP increase would be in the 5-10 HP range depending on other mods.
Please post up more vids though- start up, idle, short rev, high rev, normal drive by, drive by with strong rev and WOT would be t!ts.

Just received a Megan OE-RS..my 2 cents
Initial observations for those considering buying one. Please note, these are subjective comments and may only apply to the system I received -I'm just sharing my impressions. Also, I'm in Montreal- rust is a bigger issue here than many places.
The system was well packaged and wrapped in 3 mil plastic, bubble wrap and foam padding. System looks good at first glance, but I noticed a few things I didn't like.
The welds were mostly ok, but not all consistent.
I can confirm the tubing is stainless steel, and so are the hangers. The resonator skin is stainless, but the inside is not according to my trusty magnet. The muffler is 16" long, and the inner mesh is not stainless either.
The flanges are a hair over 1/4" stamped shiny steel(not stainless) and seem a bit small for the tubing-ie there's not much flat mating surface there to get a seal. There's a bevel on the inner flange where it meets the tubing that further reduces the contact surface, and the bolt holes overlap this bevel on a couple of flanges-they shouldn't since it's a potential leak.
The tubing is not square to the flange in a couple of cases (2 out 5)-ie the tubing isn't at the same depth to the inner surface of the flange all the way around because the flange isn't 90 degrees to the tubing. It probably won't affect fitment much as it looks to be less than 5 dregees off.
The gaskets supplied are not great, so I went by Nissan to pick up the real deal. I didn't buy them because when I compared them to the supplied ones(which are the exact size of the flanges) I noticed the raised crush zone of the OEM gasket sat on the outside edge of the supplied one-ie it will overlap the outer edge of the flanges, and so it seemed to me would probably not seal the joint properly since it won't be flattened between the 2 flange surfaces. The parts guy verified the other ones he had but nothing worked. I was planning on sealing the joints with high temp Red RTV anyway but I'd have liked to see beefier flanges- I think this will be the first thing to fail on this system.
Overall I'm a bit underwhelmed. The system looks good, but I was hoping for a replacement exhaust in stainless that would last many years, and I have doubts that will be the case with this one, at least where I live. Those flanges are a weak point, and the steel mesh in the resonator and muffler will rust, so I expect the system will get louder sooner than I'd like. The quality control is obviously not what it might be, but you get what you pay for.
No idea how it sounds as I haven't and won't have time to install the thing in the next 10 days.

Have you tried to get in touch with JDMhub.com? I got mine from them a month ago. It took less than a week b/w the time I bought it and the time I received it.

... good deal
