GLOWING HEADLIGHTS (BLUE IS ILLEGAL)
GLOWING HEADLIGHTS (BLUE IS ILLEGAL)
So me and one of my freinds had the bright idea of adding LED's to the headlight (black housing R34's) housings so that they glow, This was the results. I think it looks awesome but wanted some more opinions as well.
I got stopped the night i put them in cause blue is reserved for emergency vehicles only... Ooops.. We are putting in a toggle switch on em. Cop said that would be sufficient.

I got a kinda blue light theme going right now though, my amp gloes blue, i got blue calipers, my head unit glows blue, so thats why i chose the blue headlights. I will probably do the white LED corner anyway just cause the one in there looks horrible.
thanks man, The grill was off of here. Its the MOTOR Storm or something like that, I love it.
Believe me, I have that blue theme as well (my entire interior is done up with blue LEDs) but I feel that blue lights on the exterior are played out and ricey. White is the way to go.
Looks sweet. did you have to bake your stuff to get in there and mod the housing?
yeah lucky they didn't cite you for those, I got pulled over multiple times for Green LED Washer sprayer accent lights, green is NOT an emergency vehicle color in any state, and they said it was a "cowl" light and needed to be white or amber. I always carefully argue with the police and they usually let me go but its still a pain since at least the Texas Transportation code says nothing on led accents. And I'm sorry but LED accents do not illuminate the road in front of the vehicle so I don't consider them cowl lights. just my opinion.

Also,
I want to do something unique with the fogs also. What do you guys think? i know the JDM thing would be yellow fogs but i dont feel like its custom enough for what i want with my car. I need some ideas.

How is this 'glow' different from all the Honda Civic's around with 2000000000k HID kits? Or some Maxima's for that matter (you know who you are, ricers). I don't get what the Cop was trying to say?

I like the look, it's legit. I agree with white bulbs but it's your car.
Regardless, even if he had them on when the sun wasn't fully down yet, the color he has is no different than some riced out HID kits. So how come all those people aren't getting stopped for using 'emergency' colors. My HIT kit on my M is a bright blue at the cutoff line of the projector but a whitish blue at the actual output. Why am I not pulled over?
They are poxied in there, unfortunately because i like the white idea... wish i had though of that before.. I still love the way it looks though, Im happy with it.

and the reason why you arent getting pulled over is becuase yours is an actual HID color/kit. not just a glow or something like that. Officers might pull you over if they believe your lights are a nuisance to public or if they give off the red or blue glow making people think you are an emergency vehicle. it doesnt matter what color your cut off line is because no one can help what color the projector lense emits.

it is the color of volunteer emergency vehicles and can only be engaged on the way TO an emergency.
and technically it doesnt matter what color "cowl" light you have... they are all illegal but it is up to the officers' discretion to ticket tht offense. Technically it is a "distraction" to other drivers. Most officers dont tend to ticket this though since its such a small infraction.

Okay, so the cop thing seems to be goin on a little so let me explain what happened. We put the lights in last sat. and that night i was meetin with my buddy who owns the shop and helped me put them in.... I was parked on the side of the road in a parking lot with the lights on waiting on him, he was gunna drive by and i was gunna follow him to go eat. As i am waiting, 2 cops pull in. I "didnt know" that they were illegal. So he asked for my license and registration, i give him the stuff and asked what the problem was. He explained it was the blue lights in the front and that blue is reserved for emergency vehicles only. I told him that i was working on gettin the car to show quality and that was the purpose in them. He explained that "you cant have them on public highways" When he stopped me i was not on a public highway, i was in a private parking lot. He told me to put in a toggle switch and to have a good night.... meanwhile (with 2 cops sitting infront of me with lights on) my buddy drives by and informs me that the lights looked great! :/.... now here was the thing that we questioned.... they do not project, they do not flash, and they dont blind anyway,,, is it just the color or is there really anything wrong with it???
its the color/distraction factor. and according to the laws, a public highway is ANY road. not including parking lots and such. You are allowed to have them for SHOW, you just cant be moving or on any publicly maintained roadway.
and especially since they are in the headlights, they will be mistaken for an emergency vehicle a lot easier.

P.S. If you get something else, I want your grille
I knew but i wasnt gunna be like "yes sir i know my lights are illegal but i though it looked good so i did it anyway... will you give me a warning?"
I dont think that would have done over very well......

I wonder why they still have them on their website

Thank you trully. That's good to know. I've tried to do serious research on it just to have knowledge to push back on the few times I have been stopped by police. Custom lighting on vehicles is a big issue. But I do like that idea of installing a switch for it though, too

Ya, If they werent super poxied in i might change em.... So i guess in stuck with the blue unless i get new housings... Like i said though. Im happy with it as it is. I agree that white would be better but since its there ill keep it. lol
Does anyone have an idea of what i can do with the fog lights?? I want to keep a custom theme and obviously blue is kinda the running theme for me... Something more than just HID/s
