Hey guys I got a problem on my cousin's max. Basically he bought himself a 00 SE 5spd and the speedometer goes max aroun 40mph and thats it. He tried changing the VSS from my old 96 4th gen but it does the same. What else can it be????

 

Ya and another thing also, the tranny seems to be doing some sort of "SSSHHHH"(bearing) noise and when you press the clutch pedal, it goes away.

 

any other gauge problems? as for the noise when the clutch is not pushed down, its most likely your inputshaft bearing, usually comes with a clutch kit.
