My car had a Stroke this morning

So I started my car up this morning and half of the stuff in the car didn’t work.

Didn’t work:
All 4 windows
Climate control
Rear Window Defroster
Tachometer

What did work:
Radio
Speedometer
Windshield wipers
Headlight

The car drove fine so I started driving to work, when I got to the main road (about 0.5 miles away) I gave it some real gas and everything started working fine. Has anyone had this happen to them before?? Any idea what ties this all together?

damn thats a bunch of stuff.. Something is definately up with your electrical system. I'd start by checking the battery and alternator.

I had a similiar thing happen to me with my 3rd gen. I was on a road trip and stopped for gas. When I started it up, the radio didn't work, the cruise didn't work and a few others. About a half hour or so later, everything started working. Never did figure it out and it never did it again.

I checked the wiring diagrams and there does not appear to be much that is common to the circuits that are failing.

Maybe the ignition switch , try playing with it if you have the problem again. Otherwise see if anything else does not work when the problem occurs.

Wow I've never heard of that problem before. You mention the wipers worked, did you just test them or was it raining? I'm curious if maybe something got wet in the electrical system.

I had a wierd incident happen to me the other day too. I was driving down the road listening to the radio and I hear this horn honking at me from out of now where. I look and see no cars around me, then I figured it out that it was mine! So I pushed the horn a couple times and it finally stopped. Has this happened to anyone else?

This. Fuses and/or connection to said fuses. When the huge 100/150amp battery fuse blows you'll lose most of the stuff you mentioned.

So the problems back and it turns out that its not charging the battery in addition to the earlier symptoms. The alt. was under warranty so I swapped it out at the parts store last night. This did not fix anything. I checked every fuse I can find in the car. Anyone else have any thoughts?

they are in the fuseale link box on the driver side of the engine bay. my problem is just downstreem of the 65 amp fuse in the "B" position in this box.

I finally figured out the problem.

Short answer: Bad Fuse Block.

Long answer: replacing the accessory relay in my car fixed the problem for a few miles then it continued. This led me to believe I had a bad connection somewhere. I checked for electrical continuity on all the relay’s circuits. Come to find out the output of the ACC. relay was not connected to the bus that it should have been feeding. I jumped this connection with a bit of wire and it completely fixed the problem.

soon I will replace that fuse block
