Which would you buy? 02 Max auto or 01 I30 Touring

Looking at buying one of these. Which would you buy? A 2002 Maxima SE auto cloth with 128k miles on it or a 2001 Infiniti I30 Touring auto (17" wheels, limited slip, xenons, leather, etc) with 96k miles on it? I know the difference between the two, just curious what you would buy if the price was exactly the same.

Always ready to help......

Well hell, now that you've got me replying, I might as well try to contribute something useful

If the price was exactly the same, I'd say take the Infiniti. It just seems like you're getting more for your money.

I'm gonna be vain here for a second, and ask for pics. That's really what it'd boil down to, for me. You're gonna be seeing the car from the outside, and spending time inside as well, so you need to be cool with the car's overall appearance.

FWIW, I'd choose my Max over a lot of comparable Infiniti products, simply for the combo black exterior and black leather interior, well, and the "creature comforts" aren't too shabby either......

I wouldn't touch this:

But I'd scald the tires off this one:

...............My two cents...............

Yes, both are automatics. I don't have pics of either one. The 02 Max is the silver color. Looks identical to this one:

Buyer owned it 2 years.

The I30T is the dark midnight blue (which I love, similar to the BM1 4th gen Max) with tan leather interior. Doesn't have the spoiler but does have the side sills. Looks very similar to the above posted pic. Original owner, no accidents. Serviced at the dealership.

That's a no brainer - The Infinity is worth much more $$$ so if they're the same price the I30T is your better buy hands down, provided it's in good shape.

How about an 02 Maxima SE Auto Cloth with only 91k?

Both are priced at $4500. I think I'm leaning toward the I30T. I'm going later on today to look at it.

I personally would try to find a 2002 fully loaded maxima, or a 2002 I30T

mostly because of the 3.5L engine...

I currently own a white on black leather 2001 Maxima Anniversary addition, and its great! but i always wish it had the 3.5L engine.

Again, that is true. I had a 96 Maxima and the 2002 and the 3.5 is just so much better in my opinion.

I would go with the Infiniti because someone correct me if Im wrong- but didnt the I30s come with a 40,000 mile free scheduled warranty? That would mean the infiniti is more likely to have been taken to the dealership for everything whereas on the Maxima it could have been taken anywhere.

Do you have service history or a Carfax on it?

I haven't run a carfax or autocheck on it, but the owner said its been taken to the dealer. He said he didn't keep his receipts. Can I call the dealership and give them the VIN and ask for all the records on the car?

This.

Sure, the 3.5 in the Maxima is a better engine, but they're both old, un-modded Automatics.

Get the Infiniti. (BTW, that SE has xenon headlights, too. Just saying.)

Did you drive either of them yet? If not, you should do that first. Also, what are your intentions with the car? A nice DD or do you want to mod it?

No... he called out 17" rims and Xenon headlights as features on the Infiniti, when those are similar features in both cars.

Yeah, I'm aware the Max SE has xenons too. I'm looking for a nice DD. Not really looking to mod it. I'm going to look at the I30T this evening and maybe the Max in the next day or two if it doesn't sell before then.

Ah yes. I see now...most humble apologies.

And OP, since you're looking for a nice DD, my vote is for the Infiniti. It has all the goodies and you'll probably get better gas mileage with it.

Don't know how I missed that

I'd take the I30. I prefer the look of the A33 I30/I35 over the 5th gen Maxima.

I'd take the Maxima. Insurance and parts are gonna be cheaper. Oh....and I hate leather seating.
