Driver's Side Power Seat Belt Malfunctioning!!??

Getting reading to get my Baby inspected today and it Never Fails!!! Something always happens when you start getting ahead in life, atleast in my experience. I might have crossed something or yanked a wire in this circuit when trouble shooting the fuel pump circuit I'm thinking. I'm hoping this is a simple fix cause I'm running out of time to inspect/register before I have to turn in the plates. Nobody in NY wants to get these fuuckin' ugly yellow plates they got here now!!! Any suggestions where to look first fellas?? Appreciate any assistance asap, thank you. I should add that's this is an intermittent issue and has never happened before but happened last night but seems to work this morning.

These tend to malfunction and I'm not clear what is going on based on what little you've stated. IIRC the belt knows when to slide forward/back off two signals...the first being the door ground switch (little black push button on the lower part of the door opening), and second from the ignition switch.

Again, not sure what work you've done as you indicated you might have pulled a wire. However, I assume the belt is not moving, so you could first check the door switch (but if interior lights are operating, that would probably rule that out). Otherwise, the mechanism is located behind the plastic panel beside the driver's seat. So the next step would be to verify it is getting power/signal from the ignition switch.

Ultimately, if it is bad, then there is a lifetime warrenty on them through Nissan. If you need one sooner...I have several good ones lying around I will give to you, you pay shipping.

Yeah I assume people can read my mind sometimes but yeah it was stuck in seatbelt on position after shutting ignition off. The interior lights came on and I pushed door jam switch in/out several times. I basically went through all the wiring on that side recently, so I probably made a boo boo. So I'm gonna take the panel off beside driver seat and check for voltage with my multi meter, thanks for your response Chris.

I don't really understand what exactly is malfunctioning. Okay, so to be clear - your seatbelt is not retracting when you open the door?

Does the passenger side operate correctly? Did you turn the car off and re-check? Do you have any other symptoms (any dash lights not working/radio not working/etc)? I've had mine get stuck occasionally over the years but it's always kind of been a one-time thing.

Will the seatbelt retract when you open the door if the car is still running? This was the case for my most recent black VE when I bought it. It turned out to be just a fuse IIRC

Yeah it got stuck in the over shoulder position/on position. Yes passengers worked, it works now for some reason not sure yet. I had recently tore the driver's side apart to go through all the wiring on that side of car. I assumed that everyone would know I was talking about when I stated the Driver's Side Power Seat Belt in Title...my bad. I turned her off then back on, then off/on again...no good, then disconnected battery for few minutes...still no good, open/close door a few times and nothing. Went out in morning after I finished up work and now it works, I still haven't figured out why it happened but hopefully it doesn't happen again. I'm on to the next couple of projects...front motor mount is going, need front end alignment, inspection app. monday, re-register, front strut mounts, springs, sway bars, install AM fuel pressure regulator and a few other things I can't remember right now.

as soon as you can, call your local nissan, schedule an appointment for them to fix it.
per warranty, it will be free (as mentioned above).

Did you mess with any fuses? If the electron batt fuse is pulled, blown or loose in there, it will cause the auto belts to be stuck. Or attempt to move for a split second but nothing else. Might be a different fuse as well, i forget. It's one of the two I pull to kill interior illumination and the bell when I need the door open for extended periods instead of disconnecting the battery all together. The other fuse it would be is the second down or up from electron batt, I don't remember which.

Yeah I pulled in/out a few times to tweak the connectors out, it seems to be good for now(knock on wood). I think it was a loose ground...reason is that I was messing around near that panel in pillar where part of the circuit is housed. Yeah I hate little things not working...right now this is not of big concern cause I had trouble today getting front motor mount out. I got the two lower bolts/nuts off but I couldn't crack the upper nut for nothing. These bolts/nuts are a fuuckin' biitch cause they put lock tight on the threads... I'll heat it up tomorrow with a blow torch and go from there.

If you were messing around with any of the wiring, I would go through and check to make sure it isn't noticeable.

I would think a dealership would void out the lifetime seat belt warranty if there were any signs of you tampering with the equipment.

If it all looks OK, I would just play dumb and tell them it hasn't been working correctly.

yeah that sounds good but I have taken out some factory tape and added some new tape to some of the wiring. That being said...it hasn't happened again and I believe it was the ground to the pop out button/switch in door jam(when you open door and it turns interior light on/off,retracts seatbelts). I was wiggling that switch and it started working...sometimes those screws get corroded and the ground path is weak or dead. I will try and go over everything if I decide to bring to stealership, good look.
