How often do you replace your NGK PFR5G-11 Spark Plugs?

I know Nissan recommends every 60k miles. What condition are the plugs in at 60k miles or less when you guys take them out to inspect.

Do you see any performance and efficiency (MPG) decline at a certain mileage with these plugs?

Who sells these the cheapest and what is the recommended gap? Mine have unknown mileage so I'm going to change them.

NGK aint cheap unless u find a sale.

Hmmm thats interesting. MA-16 of the FSM says u dont need to adjust gap. The Haynes tells u the gap tho.

I did my plugs maybe 10k ago and IIRC the gap was 0.043. I also remember i had to gap each plug so idk what the FSM is talkin bout.

That same day i did my bro mazda 626 and used NGKs and each plug was pre-gapped correctly. I kno cuz i checked each one. Go fig....

All spark plugs should be gapped.
43 is a huge gap. I'm not used to this non turbo stuff just yet. lol

NGK is cheap depending on what you get. I run bpr7es and bpr8es for my dsm and it's $10 for a set of 4.

Copper NGK are inexpensive. NGK are always pre-gapped, hence the FSM saying not to gap OEM (NGK) plugs.

NEVER GAP PLATINUMS, YOU WILL DESTROY THE PLATINUM.

How hard was that to figure out

There is no real way to tell how "long" platinums last. My plugs looked fine at 120k and looked like OEM. they were in there so long the gap was .055 or .06 in some case lol

Hell on my first max, i pulled them at 150k and those had looked fine too.

My 95SE is still a low-mileage vehicle. I had the OEM laser platinum plugs replaced in kind at 108,001 kilometres (67,100 miles) in March 2007. The plugs probably could have lasted longer, but I was having a belt replaced and decided to have them changed at the same time. After all they had been in place for 12.5 years.

From what I gather, you can get more than 60k out of the platinum plugs. I know a guy who sold his 99SE a couple of years ago and he had over 90k miles on the car and had never changed the plugs. Plus he only used 87 octane gas.

This is what I have installed in my 4th gen. The 7th gens come with these same plugs. $45 for all 6 at AZ and I don't plan on changing till either 100,000 miles or a tube seal leaks oil into the cylinder..whichever comes first.

yeah man, NGK plats or iridium last forever.

OP,
There is really no way to tell how long they last. Even if u go to the NGK website they dont list how long they last.

60k is 2-3 yrs of driving. The FSM recommends replacing them cuz just about every 2-3 yrs u shd have replaced all maintenance items. But u can get a lot more life out of NGK plugs.

In fact i have never seen a bad set of worn NGK plugs here on the ORG. Even on my old max, i prolly cd have jus re-gapped them again and would have lasted another 30-60k miles.

My advice: pull one of your plugs and see what condition they in. If they NGK they prolly still good. If not good, then replace.
