Foot-well lights?

Couldn't really find any info searching the org. I'm not planning to wire separate LED's myself but rather buying those neon tubes you see at pepboys, autozone, etc.

Anyone know which wire i would have to tap into to have foot-well lights turn on along with the door lights? Any pictures?

something like this but without the pulsing

I tried to do this last Summer, tapping into a number of wires before giving up. And then I realized I was interpreting the wiring harness diagram backwards.

Might pick it up again someday, but it's a seriously uncomfortable position getting under the dash like that, and I'm getting old.

Here's the thread, if you can make any sense of it.

The LED tubes in that pic/video actual have 6/7 functions ... they will pulse to the music/vibration or stay on solid, they will case forward/backward and the have a switch box mounted just up under the steering wheel that has an on/off function.

The video is mine ... I will have to take a picture for you of where I taped as it is a line constant so the key is not required in the ignition to operate them. Simple 6" tubes but they do through off enough light to illuminate the foot well.

You can get Streetglow Optix strips for $20 a pair at Autozone that do the job just fine. I had them in my Trans Am.

They were wired up to come on with the guages. Looked good, but they were distracting at night when I was driving at times.

I have a pair of custom 24-LED boards under the dash, wired to a switch mounted where my coin pocket would go, tapped to the front 12v. If you wanted to tap into the wire that is mated to the dome light/unlock button, there is a wire on the drivers side A-pillar. jowo9 states which wire to use in his Door Handle LED How-To.

Hey thanks for the link! It has great info. Just wondering, if I use neon tubes ,which are already sold with a positive and negative wire, would I still need to use resistors?

^^ Well yes driving around with them on can be distracting and possibly get you pulled over. They are nice to have come on when entering and exiting in the evening hours, as far as running mine with the sensors on, I only do it when the car is parked more so for my own pleasure.

I've been pulled over in the night for music and I had the lights all the way up and didnt catch any **** for it, if I drive at night on the highway I'll turn them down with the dimmer. I've had them in there for a about 8 months now.

Thanks Brett

Okay, so I wired my neon tubes through the same wire as luvlexus101's thread about LED Door Handles and everything worked out perfectly! The lights fade in when the car is unlocked and fade out when the doors are locked. Thanks for all the help guys!

Look at the noob's profile. He posted 20 rapid-fire responses, each repeating the thread title, all so that he could create a truly lame FS thread.

I don't recommend this often, but...

I saw the same thing and I've been on here for a couple years and don't usually post because I'm constantly searching, but that just irritates the hell outta me.
