NEED BIG HELP ENGINE FLUSH OR NOT????

WHATS UP guyz and girls i have a 97 se automatic (i know) and the car has been sitting since october of last year. I just recently registered the car again and have been driving it for about two weeks. MY question is an oil change was supposed to be peformed at 192xxx the car now has 197xxx.. im definitely getting an oil change but should i get an engine flush at the same time? Will it harm the car and also is this sumthing i can do on my own? i know how to do an oil change if that helps lol...

thanks for the help in advance

the way an engine flush was explained to me was that they drain all the old oil out and then replace it with a specail liquid that cleans up the sludge and stuff in the engine and then let the car run for 8-10 minutes then drain that and replace it with brand new oil.... i searched on google and sum sites say dont then sum say do... i dunno

He's not talking about a radiator flush or transmission flush. I'd do an engine flush along with the oil change if it has been sitting that long to remove the sludge/deposits on your engine internals.. It's recommended, but not required..

I suggest just to do a regular oil change every 3k miles. I wouldn't recommend adding additives to the engine.

+1

FWIW my first maxi i went forever with out changing the oil. Beat the living hell out of it. And im sure to this day if i pieced it all back together it would still run like a champ.

But id flush out the tranny and the antifreeze before the ''engine flush''

I wouldn't recommend doing an engine flush neither......unless you're bored and need something to really keep you busy! Like an overhaul!!!!!!

Here's a suggestion. Buy a gallon of CHEAP oil. The cheapest. Change the oil in your car to that. Run the car for about 300 - 400 miles. (roughly one tank of gas) Then buy GOOD oil and change the oil again.

The crappy oil during the operation of the car would have picked up the crap that might have been sitting around. And of course change the filter every time you change oil. That goes without saying.
