4th Gen DIY website is back: motorvate.ca

Hey Everyone,

motorvate.ca is now back!

After the site was killed in August 2009 I just left it. Life was just too busy rebuild it. However, I started working on this late last year and now it is almost done.

Popular topics:
- 5-Speed Diff Carrier Bearing Replacement: http://motorvate.ca/node/59
- Replacing Front Wheel Bearing: http://motorvate.ca/node/65
- Front Brakes DIY: http://motorvate.ca/node/4
- Throttle Body Cleaning: http://motorvate.ca/node/56
- Oil Filter Cut Away Nissan vs other: http://motorvate.ca/node/50

By the way, I sold my 95 Maxima in 2007, with 398,000 KM on it. I picked up the buyer at the airport and he test drove it. He bought it, and drove it back to Ottawa.

I now drive a 2001 BMW 530.

Anyways, I hope the site can help you out.

Thanks,
Frank

You are the man. I am amazed from your commitment taking into account that you don't even have this car any more. I have tried to get to your site about 5-10 times since it was killed and finally it is back.
Thank you.

Thanks for the kind words! As I was rebuilding the site, it was a nice trip down "memory lane". I find it hard to believe the content is 10+ years old.

Once in a while I do miss my Maxima, but the 530 is a nice replacement. (even if it is a little slower)

I have lots of pics from work I did on my Maxima from around 2003-2007 that I am planning on putting on the site. (probably after the BMW & bike content)

Thanks again,
Frank

I bought my Maxima in Dec '09 and archive.org copies of motorvate.ca pages have been the most useful resource after this site. Good to see it up and running - you've got more than I had seen on the old site.

Used your site quite a bit back in the day (thanks!), I know plenty of others will appreciate you bringing it back.

Great choice on the new ride, I looked at the e39 and e60 530is quite a bit, but ultimately decided to go with a e90 330i as my new ride. The i30 is still chugging along @ 173k miles.

Thanks very much for bringing the site back. I have a 95SE, 5-speed, that I have owned since cay 1. It has 138,300 mostly highway kilometres on it. It looks like I am good to go for some time as I dealt with the dreaded differential carrier bearing issue in August 2009 and replaced the clutch at the same time, given the tranny was out.

Thank you so much, you are the man!

And you should probably put up a few Google ads to help generate some revenue. I don't mind clicking so ads to help a fellow Maxima owner.

I switched to the Purolator L14610 "Classic" after my Nissan oil filter source spiked their prices. Someone had cut open the L14610 iirc, but I can't seem to find it.

Great job Frank!

How's your 530i treating you? and are you on Bimmerfest or Bimmerforums?
I've made quick Thrust Arms bushing replacement DIY, it would be cool if you could post it on your site under 530 DIY.

Interesting idea, but I really want to keep it an "ad free zone". There is too much advertising on the web these days and I don't want to add to it.

Just in time for me to jump back into the Maxima game. I sold my Max at least 5 years ago but I used motorvate alot back in the days. Good to see it's back.

The 530 has been bad/good. Last year I put $4,000 in PARTS ONLY into it, and it has not needed anything for the last year. As you know, they are AWESOME to drive.

Yes, I am on both.
Bimmerfest: Max_VQ / Bimmerforums: MaxVQ (it is hard to give up old names)
BUT I haven't posted anything is the last year or so.

I would love to post up your DIY on motorvate.ca. Let me make some more progress on the site, and I will contact you down the road.
