Fuel injector cleaner preference

Hey all,
I tried to search this but didn't find anything on it. So, I changed my fuel filter and EGR valve. My 97 Max feels like a new car now. I want to keep it that way. Does anyone use any fuel injector cleaner such as Lucas or Red Line? An if so, how often? An associate of mine said he uses it once a month to keep everything running clean. Thoughts and opinions?

Once a month is overkill. In most cases injector cleaner is gimmick and a placebo affect. If, in fact your injectors need cleaning try BG. Most shops sell it.

Did someone mention fuel injector cleaner???

There is only ONE fuel system cleaner to use. And that is: Chevron Techron. I used to run it once a month. but now, the gas mileage and performance so good i run it every oil change jus for the hell of it. Its the best stuff on the market and the only stuff i put in my car. Jus as good as seafoamin it if u ask me.

Case in point, my boy had a CEL for a o2 sensor and drivebility issues; prolly was a dirty TB or cat. I told him to run some chevron. After about 1/2 a tank, CEL went off and all issues gone. That was 7 months ago!!!! Now he keeps a spare bottle in the trunk lol.

DONT put lucas oil in yur car. You will hate yur life. Damn Autozone worker recommended it. Only reason i bought it cuz i didnt feel like payin 12 bucks for the techron. Worst thing i ever did. hate that lucas crap.

is chevron techron recommended for a full tank or can it be used on less than a full tank?
I only put premium gas in my car and a full tank will be more than $60 plus the cost of this techron stuff....

Another vote for Chevron and Redline here. I add 1oz Redline per gas fillup as regular maint. 170Kmi and running strong still.

I have used Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner in the past, but they no longer sell it in British Columbia. Last spring I used Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner and within 7 miles I had a CEL and had to replace a fuel injector. I had previously used Gumout Regane.

I will never use the Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner again. However, I use Chevron gas all the time.

I used chevron techron, didn't notice a difference in MPG or any else effect. Did remove my CEL after a tank though.

The last time I bought lucas I swear my car ran horribly. Now this was on autolite platinum plugs that were about 120k miles old that have sinced been switched for ngk coppers but the lucas made the car hesitate on acceleration even more.

I'll throw a bottle of stp or advance auto brand injector cleaner in every other oil change but I'm pretty sure its a waste of 3 bucks like the others said, better off spending the 3 bucks on a beer to drink while changing the oil.

my bro works at autozone they ofter run contests store vs store to sell the most of a particular item sometimes its those little flash lights ect but often more times than not its those small bottles of lucas... so take that advise with a grain of salt.

not saying lucas is good or no good just saying they have alterior motives.

I have been using lucas on my tt supra,vr4 and maxima for the last 8 years. I would not use any other injector cleaner in my car.

I've ran Chevron on an empty tank before, basically drove about 50 miles on a little bit of gas and 20 oz. of Chevron. I noticed a difference especially next gas fill up got a couple mpgs better and car felt way smoother ever since I started using the stuff.

The guy at O'reilly's told me the exact same thing though, figured if people at two competing stores were sold on the same product I would have to try it...

maybe Ill try this stuff then next oil change try the techron?

Surprised no one mentioned seafoam.

Equally surprised at the Lucas hate.

Well last night I put half the bottle of lucas in with an 8th tank of gas drove it around for a bit then threw in another 1/4 tank of gas on top and finished off the lucas. today went out for a little 15 min test drive and all seems to be well. My warm idle as I come to a stop light sits right at 900rpms and no longer wavers. Ill keep an eye on it for a couple days and let you guys know if that seems to have cleared up my weak idle problems *crosses fingers*
