2k2-->2k1 maf questoin

got the wrong maf sent to me for my 03, its a 00/01 maf instead of 02/03.

in the swap "thermistor" to make it work threads, its held by two metal crimps.
the maf i have just has a small square outline where they should be.
any way i can make it work without those two crimps. also, it never had the crimps, doesnt appear to be robbed of them of tampered with, theyre just not present.

Thanks

Is there any metal there? If Nissan left all the metal out, that could mean that there is no connection back to where the wire harness plugs on. If you could do a picture of the spot where the thermistor goes and of the connector where the wire harness plugs on, maybe we can give you a definite answer.

Also, is this maf a Nissan or aftermarket one? What did you order and pay for? The 02/03 maf is more expensive.

ive done my extensive maf research, seller claimed it was 02/03 maf.
in the swap threads, the 2k1 maf at least had the prongs to hold the IAT sensor. this one has none so i dont know if the transplant will work,,

This can't be used in a 2002/2003 Max. This is for a 2000/2001 and cannot be modified.

Get your money back.

Aftermarkets are not calibrated as well and will knock on start-up. Bad for headgaskets since most people run low-grade fuel with 15*-17* timing and are untuned as it is with aftermarket parts.

U unplugged the original maf with the key in the on position or the battery connected? So are u saying that the maf does not connect? Or does not work? I dont have a problem returning your money. As long as #1 u are sending me back the same maf housing and maf sensor I sent u. Which I had on my vq 3.5 motor with out problem. #2....was going to say that it is actually the wrong one for your car...Btu im 100% sure that it is the correct one.

This is what I sent u...I cant see how it would be the wrong one at all....

will someone else prove me right, but im 200 % sure my car is a 03 6 speed maxima with a 3.5

and im sure this claimed 02/03 maf (that has no thermistor!) has never controlled a vq35de motor (or at least not correctly).

You have 2002/2003 headlights and that's all I can say by looking at the picture.

One way to tell is to look at the date you car was manufactured. Open the driver's door and look at the pillar between the front and rear doors, down at the bottom just above the rocker panel. There is a white sticker there that has the date manufactured as well as other info. The 2003 year model cars were made between 05/2002 and 04/2003.

Your crazy...u dont know what your doing....Lets look at all you pm's

kenneth, even with a thermistor swap this maf CANNOT be used on my car,

nor is it any 02/03 model maf. ill still give you five for the housing, but i do need my money back as soon as possible as i still have the problem on my car.
Why would u still give me $5 for the housing???

yes i know what im talking about.. my car is a 03 vq35 6 speed bro, it put my car in limp mode wouldnt rev past 2k and threw my CEL.

i even posted a pic on here and started a thread and the response was GET YOUR MONEY BACK.

item was not as described and i need my money back. this is not any maf for a 3.5 maxima.
If u simply disconnect the maf sensor while the car is in the on position or running it will not rev pass 2.5k once reconnected...

I ran that MAF on my car with ZERO error....

Take pics of both MAFs...your original and the one he sent. Include pics of the part #.

It's not that hard.

Ok I guess I am making it hard here so I will take comparison pics when I get off work, but this "02/03" mac has no thermistor, or even the electrical crimps where one goes, so how could this run perfect on his 3.5???

Pics on the way.. SMH..

My car runs fine without the thermistor. It just throws an IAT code.

This looks like it should be disputed on the seller feedback forum.

My understanding is that the original 2000-2001 MAF had no support for the IAT sensor because the IAT sensor was separate device on that model Maxima. But once Nissan piggybacked the IAT on the MAF for the 2002-2003 model, they eventually combined the parts supply line so that the device could be manufactured with and without the little thermistor that costs virtually nothing.

The picture of your recently purchased MAF has no support for the IAT sensor. It was inaccurately advertised as a 5.5 gen device.

Good luck, OP.

The seller of the part, N2003TE, posted a photo of what he claims to have sent to the OP. It has the AM600 part number on it, correct for a 5.5 gen, but that's just a plastic tube that the MAF sensor mounts in - and - it also has junkyard writing on it. As for the MAF sensor itself, that is a removable, replacable part part. I'm thinking that the MAF sensor is not a Nissan oem part.

The thread op is incorrect. I sold the MAF to N2003TE because he thought his problem was his maf just as I thought with my car when I purchased it. It worked fine in my car as well as fine in his. Now he is contacting me asking for a receipt to prove that it was in all actuality the correct part.

As true as that maybe it is quite possible for the op to have also swapped it out himself. I know N2003TE and his car didnt have a problem with the MAF. It was a extra part laying around.
