Major Tune Up

Hello,

My car is about 140K miles now, and I am thinking of getting the tune up done. Since I've owned the car since it was about 10k miles, I am not sure the spark plugs has ever been changed.

What are some of the major things I need to consider? I am thinking of the following:

-- Spark plugs and wires
-- Power steering hose
-- Drive belts
-- Transmission fluid (did change it about 3 yrs ago -- still worth it?)
-- Shocks and struts

any others?

thanks very much - Noela

thanks - checked it out; what spark plugs would you recommend for regular driving - no autocross;

NGK Platinum: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=916818
NGK Iridium: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=393349

Also, do I need to change my valve cover?

cheers, Noela

Change your VC if it's leaking. But if you feel ambitious, might as well do it while you are doing the plugs.

Considering the price difference, I'd go with Ir's.

Platinum Plugs

Add 6 to cart, Enter Coupon EMD5 to take 20 off. Total around $41 for 6 plugs. I got them for $36, but i can't find that coupon code. Good luck.

Edit: select store pickup to avoid shipping charges.

Also there are no plug wires, our cars use coil packs.

KVK,

Thanks very much.

I did order the NGK Iridiums from RockAuto for about $49, but decided to cancel it, and then order the NGK Laser Platinum ones from AdvancedAuto -- it all came to about $43 (tax inclusive).

I will pick up later tonight. Then once my drive belts arrive tomorrow, my mechanic will install the power steering hose, drive belts and spark plugs + oil change of course.

Thanks again for the tip.

Rgds, Noela
