took my car into the body shop today for more paintjob woes...anyways, they put me in a rental...chevy malibu. and like all lead footed drivers...I immediately peeled out of the lot and gunned it...seemed like it had lots of power in it.

wonder if anyone here has actually raced one? auto vs auto or 5spd (max) vs auto (malibu)?

one thing that sucked was that instead of having a brake handle it has the mercedes equivalent of a foot parking brake...wonder if anyone knows how to incite a foot parking brake drift...=)

also the interior has a faux carbon fiber trim to it...! if I can get hold of a camera...would post some pics.

later.

It may feel fast because it has some low end. But rev it all the way up and go into 2nd. It may stop moving after that.. =) I've played with one on the highway. He wasn't there for very long.

Well 1 was trying to play with me he couldn't keep ->

up we were on the highway. I stretch out on him then we ran into some traffic so he caught back up. We started dipping in and out of traffic and he almost lost it he gave up after that.

Ahh, that's the good ole chevy torque you are feeling. Probably 180 lbs of torque at 2500 rpms but only max hp on the thing of 150. They just DIE.

Throttle tuning

You were experiencing one of the oldest tricks in Detroit's book. They set up the throttle linkage to be very sensitive when you first press it. That way you feel the rush of power with very little pressure on the pedal. It makes you think there is lots of power under there, but there isn't.

They're not much to contend with >>

3.1 or 3.4 liter V6...

I played with one a few times...left him quite easily...and my car is a '97 GXE automatic with no mods.

Man, I hate those things, I had one as my rental car. The seatbelt locks you to the seat if you "accelerate" hard and if you make a sharp turn, almost choking you. Plus try doing a neutral drop in that thing. Put it in neutral rev it to the max and throw that sucker into drive and you hear a loud click instead of getting some tire spin. Those cars are no fun.

haha...its raining now...and I'm full throttleing it out my apt complex....small road...! wheel spin like crazy...!
brake torqued it...more wheel spin...guess its the wet roads to blame...!?

only complain is that there is a foot brake instead of a hand brake (parking brake) so e-brake induced slides are not possible?

I had a malibu as a rental for 4 days in San Jose. Man, did the car SUCK . It has a bit of low end, but really dies after that. The car I had, had been beat on previously since it had 21k miles on it. Rattles everywhere, loud engine, horrible gas mileage......To say the least, I was glad to get home and drive the Max!

Spanked one Just the other day ...

I just dropped my GF home, and was on MY way home! I'm minding my own business and a Dark Green Malibu cuts me off!
We come to a stoplight! Its an Older guy and his Dumb-*** teenage son ... he's GRINNING at me like this guy ----> probably makin' fun of me cuz I'm YELLOW!
The light turns GREEN ... I don't even really need to go that hard on the accelerator! at 80KM I'm already about 3/4 of a car length in front of him! At 100 a car length and a little bit! ... 120 Two car lenghts and I cut him off ... flash my Hazards and my breaks! hehe then Fly onto the Onramp to the highway!

Why did he even try???

Reply TO tclee ... : )

Unfortunately ... my Poor 99 SE got Totalled!

But it still lives in my Pictures and my Memories!!!

Its in Car Heaven now ... it saved me life U know??? LOL

About the WHITE cars ... hehe ... I think the SE Maxima's Look the BEST in WHITE ... Clean, Elegant and Sporty ... cuz WHITE car ... RED Tail Lamps, SILVER Rims, looks really really nice!! RED, WHITE, SILVER and BLACK the only colors on the Car!!!!

Just look at the 2K ... White Car, Titanium Rims, Black Surround on RED tail lamps, RED rear Side marker!!

U people probably will NEVER understand how I have the ABOVE conception in my head ... hehe ... I just think it looks VERY aggressive!!!
If I do Paint my Brake Calipers, they're gonna be red ... if I put stickers (Probably not ... too ricy) they will be RED!!!

As for Keeping it CLEAN ... 2 Words "WEEKLY WASH", and thats MINIMUM, about 3 times a week in the summer!!!!

Oh yeah ... and a HELL LOT of Cleaning Products!
