MD 2001 Max AE totalled
2001 Max AE totalled
Folks, my wife rear ended a guy on I-95 here in Maryland over Memorial Day weekend. Insurance company is totalling out the car due to airbag deployment and age of the car.
She has 104,000 miles and needs airbags, radiator support, radiator, condensor, headlights, front seat belts, etc. I have the audatex estimates for any serious inquiries. It needs about $10,000 in repairs and even though I'm getting nearly $6,000 from the insurance company I think I'm going to let her go and go after something more fuel efficient with rear airbags (I have 2 kids). This estimate includes all new Nissan parts, no short-changing. This car sat for 6 years and never saw rain or snow from 2003 until 2009 and was put into full-time service when my Prelude finally died. I have all maintenance records and gas mileage receipts documented for this car. Since January I put 4 Goodyear Eagle GTs on, had the transmission flushed and new screen replaced, new radiator hoses and all new belts put on.
I can buy out this car with a salvage title for about $700. If anyone is interested in this car to fix it and give her a second chance on the road please contact me ASAP. I posted some pics under my profile. It starts and runs fine but obviously needs to be towed.
I absolutely loved this car...should have not let my wife drive it daily. I've seen it at the storage yard twice now and both times I left in tears. I don't know what the car is worth now but would probaly like to see $1200 or more to make it worth my time and effort to get the paperwork complete and such.

Sorry, its an automatic. Black leather interior, heated seats, Bose, rear spoiler. AE body kit is intact.
Edit: I will not personally part out the car from my house. I'm too emotionally attached to the car.
I think $1200 is a very generous price considering the new Goodyear Eagle GTs alone were $600 online. Not to mention another $100 to mount/balance, etc. The engine has 104,000 miles and I had the transmission drained/refilled and new filter screen put in at 100,000 miles at a cost of $147. So even the tranny sits in a shed for a little bit the new fluid may give the owner a little piece of mind. The 100k service was done in Feburary at 98,500 miles. The only purpose that serves now is the engine belts. New radiator hoses are moot at this point.
I did take a crap video with my phone that I might post up to youtube for yall to see.

sorry to hear... your pics are not working but anyhow. I have a 5spd fully loaded pearl white on tan leather AE with 90k. I've been thinking about selling it but definetly not for the price your insurance is offering you. feel free to PM me for further details if you're interested. its in flawless condition with brand new rotors/pads/yokohamatires/battery + all maintainence done by myself.
you should definetly buy the car back just for the AE kit alone. it would be sold for at leat $500 in no time.

I have the same model and color and would be interested in the body kit (cracked my front spoiler and scratched the rear), wheels, fuel latch, wheels, (and brakes?) if you're doing just parts. I also just posted a request in the newbie section asking for brake/installer advice around Arlington VA.
