Clutch pedal/cylinder problems
MY clutch pedal is not "springy" any more. It won't return when I press it, and has trouble going into 1st gear sometimes. I rebuilt the master cylinder, but does anyone know where the slave cylinder is? I have a kit to rebuild it, and I have the Haynes and Chilton manuals, but I can't figure out where the slave cylinder is.
Thanks
Thanks
Try bleeding the entire system from the slave cylinder (once you find it)..
you may not need to rebuild it, BUT if there are any other problems like leaks, worn hoses, etc. you need to get those fixed too.
This could also be a sign that your clutch is going out. how old is the clutch? miles?
was this all of a sudden, or has it gradually gotten worse over time?
if it was all of a sudden, did you hear any noises - like parts breaking, any "crunching" noise when you pressed the clutch, etc.
And when you do press the clutch pedal down, what does it feel like? does it smoothly go to the floor, or is it rough and just generally not smooth?

sounds like you have some air left in the lines. try bleeding the system again.when you check the slave cylinder make sure you pull the boot back cause it might be dry on the outside but is leaking inside and just hasnt gotten bad enough yet for it to come out of the boot..
then if all is good there you might just need to adjust the pedal could be out of adjustment..if that dont fix it i would check the master cylinder again..
good luck

what about the return spring inside the car? make sure it's connected.
if you're not losing any fluid, then its definitely not a bad hose. it could be a bad master/slave cylinder though....
could also be a failing clutch.
try bleeding the entire system again, then use a gauge to check your fluid pressure when you press the clutch. I have no clue what it SHOULD be, but you'll see it go up. possibly 500psi + might want to check a service manual for that info, or call a tranny shop and see what they say.
might be a good idea to just take it to a tranny shop and get their opinion also.
