Its a squeeking. Its most noticable at 1-3 speed and it goes away on 4. It seems to be coming mostly from the top vents. If it helps for any reason its a 97.
Thanks in advance.

does the noise change or go away when you change vents?

like it you move it to the floor vents? or is it still there?

is it just the heater or does the a/c do it as well?

Check the blower motor for obstructions. A couple years back, I had a squeaking noise when I turned the fan on 1 or 2. Dealer replaced the unit under warranty, stating "defective blower unit."

I think i know what it is.

The vents for the top "defrost" vents (the ones that defrost the die windows, not the one at the windshield) are made of hard plastic, and rub against the inside of the dash, making an annoying "squeak"

What I did was take a piece of cardboard and put it wedged inbetween the A-Frame and the dash. That moved the dash JUST enough to stop the rubbing.

If you wedge the cardboard in there well, it won't be visible.

I wish I could help, but I'm having a similar problem as well. I hear a knocking/squeeking sound coming from the center vents whenever I take turns or go over little bumps. It's quiet when I drive straight, but just the slightest turn and it starts up. Does anyone know how to fix this? Someone please help. Thanks.

noise with blower for heater/ac

My fan was making a noise some of the time but not always. I pulled the blower and squirrel cage out (remove the glove box and go from there) My squirrel cage had the pieces from a lid from a Mcdonald's coke cup! Once I cleaned it out, the noise was gone. Don't know if you have some debris in yours but you might check.
