Replacing Remotes - Original? Aftermarket?

I need a remote or two for a '99 Max. There are some aftermarket versions for sale on Ebay. Are they any good... or junk with poor switches? The prices are only slighly better for the OEM's, but I'm thinking that remotes from '99 are probably pretty worn. Opinions on both points appreciated.

Dealer charger $110 for replacements, but you'll know what you're getting that way...

OEM is the way to go, If you thinking after market, just go with a aftermarket alarm

For a 10+ Year old car it's kinda pointless to buy a new OEM remote unless your intention is to keep it till the wheels fall off, then I kinda see the point... Even then I plan on keeping my max forever and I will not splurge on a new remote when there are good aftermarket ones for sale.... EG....

The first one does all of the same features as the OEM one.

The one below it looks cooler but does not lower the two front windows.

If neither of those tickles your fancy you can still buy the OEM one at the bottom.

Also check ebay for the same FOB's they sometime have sales on thier eBay store and you can get one for $20!

What is the FCC ID code on the back of it? Maximas have FCC ID A269ZUA078 and use a frequency of 434 MHz.

Used Factory Remote FTW

I paid about 20 bucks shipped on ebay for a used remote. Works great. Programs in 10 seconds.

I bought it from this guy http://myworld.ebay.com/yesremote/&_...84.m1439.l2754

To program:

1. Close and lock all doors with the drivers side power lock/unlock
switch.

2. Insert key into ignition and remove it from the ignition key cylinder
at least six times within 10 seconds. Your Hazard Lamps will flash
if you have performed this step successfully(Withdraw key
completely from ignition cylinder each time ). If this procedure is
performed too fast, system will not enter programming mode.

3. Insert key into the ignition cylinder and turn to the ACC position.

4. Within 5 seconds, push LOCK button on the keyless remote. Your
Hazard Lamps should flash. (Do not press the button more than
one time in the above step). If the button is pressed more than one
time, the programming procedure will not be successful.

5. If there are any remaining remotes (including the old ones), unlock
then lock all doors using the drivers side power lock/unlock switch
and within 5 seconds, push LOCK button on the next remote. Your
Hazard Lamps should flash. Repeat this step for each keyless remote
(including any existing keyless remotes).

6. Turn the key to the OFF position, remove keys from the ignition,
Open door, Test Remotes

There are a ton of oem key fobs on eBay for about $30. Or you can go with an aftermarket one which is slghtly smaller and I can confirm works and still allows for the windows to roll down as well, just like on the oem one. Looks like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-N...item2c5fa7eded

I bought both a used OEM remote and a KeylessRide aftermarket remote on eBay for my Max. Both work great. Only difference aside from looks is the KeylessRide remote buttons must be held for .5 - 1 second for the car to respond whereas the OEM remote gets an immediate response.
