Hi guys. I just want to know how people launch their automatic maxima. Do you floor it as soon as you start? Do you let the car roll first then floor it? Do you press on the gas till it moves at a certain speed then floor it etc... I just want to know the proper way. Also do you keep it at D or do you use D1, 2 overdrive then D. If so, when do you switch gears, before it redlines, right at the redline?. The more information the better.

 

I hold my brakes while pressing on the gas to get my car up to around 2000RPMs, then mash the gas. I start in 1st and shift a tiny bit before redline into 2nd etc. If you shift at redline it'll bounce off the rev limiter before shifting. After 2nd gear I put the car into drive with the O/D off, then when approaching redline I pop on the O/D again and let the car go from there.

 

Master 1/4 mile'er Jime just mashes it slowly/gradually from a dig when he wasn't controlling throttle via EMU. I find the same to be true/most effective.
