- Replaced (2) front wheel studs - $4

One wheel stud was completely broken off on the front passenger side. On the driver side, one wheel stud was cross-threaded. I guess the person who works on this car uses the airgun and snapped one off and cross-threaded the other. Feels good to be riding on 5 lug nuts on each side again


- Checked front brake rotors & pads (Excellent condition) & Applied anti-squeal on front brakes - $6

My brakes was squealing at low speed so while I was replacing the wheel studs, I checked the rotors and pads. I guess both were changed recently because they're in excellent condition. I went ahead and apply the anti-squeal glue to the shim and pads and it's dead quiet now. No more squealing coming to a stop.

- Upgrade trunk spring from SE model - $10

I hate whenever I used the remote to open the trunk, it would open but not prop the trunk lid up. The solution was to replace the trunk tension bars from the SE model (the one with the spoiler) and it works like a charm. Now whenever I open the trunk, the trunk lid pop open like I have powered lift gate

- Removed center seat belt to fit trunk spring properly - $0

Well this wasn't necessary but the new tension bars was rubbing the center seat belt assembly. I figured since no one ever sit in the center seat anyway, why not just remove it completely? The car looks a lot cleaner now without the center seat belt and I eliminated the rubbing issue.

- Replaced broken rear driver side quarter panel - $10

Whoever own this car before me tried to replace the rear speakers but do so unsuccessfully. They end up breaking the plastic quarter panel trying to rip it off. I went ahead and replaced it. The car looks 100% now

wth are you talkin about??? plastic quarter panel???? and, you could've just tucked in the seatbelt instead of removing it.

 

your quarter panel is on the outside body of the car. and not made of plastic. so really doubt you replaced your plastic quarter panel.

How exactly did you fix your trunk release? My trunk only opens by key....but when I try opening it by key or by the trunk release button I here the mechanism in the trunk trying to open the trunk.

 

There is a safety latch built into the trunk latch mechanism. Open the trunk and look at the latch mechanism (above the bumper, not in the lid) from the side, not the top. You will see a metal lever. When it is in the down (?) position, the trunk will only open with the key. In the up (?) position, then the trunk will also open from the remote. Flip the lever.

 

I have a 1995 SE and the truck doesn't pop open like that. Can the springs be adjusted? Sorry, I haven't researched this point, I figured the deck lid just wasn't supposed to pop up all the way.

 

I don't have an SE model so I couldn't tell you. It's probably because you have a spoiler and it added extra weight?

 

I'm pretty sure that there is no adjustment for the trunk lid springs, this question comes up every so often. There is a thread where someone put a gas strut (like the hood uses) to open the trunk.

I have an SE with the spoiler & wondered why the trunk didn't pop up when remotely triggered. I debadged the trunk yesterday and pulled the lock assy out to paint it black. When I removed the carpet trim from the underside of the trunk, I got my answer. My trunk lid is covered in Dynamat which makes it too heavy to spring up.
