Why does my seat move forward and back even when tightened down?

I figured this would be a common problem but didn't find anything in search. It might just be a worn out seat and there's nothing to be done, but I wanted to see if anyone had some ideas.

I've noticed that my driver's seat will kind of lurch forward 1/2" if I brake hard, and then will settle again. I don't notice anything under acceleration, but that's probably because my car is too slow It's not that the seat moves forward on the tracks, the frame is locked to the floor and my power seat adjustments don't go out of whack.

No matter how many times I take the seat out and re-tighten the bolts, it always moves back and forth a bit. Are there any nuts inside the seat/frame that could be tightened?

I too notice this under hard braking, but always figured it was normal?

I would take the seat out and inspect the gears that drive the seat on the tracks. Maybe they aren't meshing properly or maybe stripped.

My 97 SE doesn't do it, but my 96 I30 does do this under hard braking. Almost feels like my *** is gonna slide right out of the seat when I brake. I'll have to take my seat apart and see for myself what could be causing it. I also have a tear on the leather so now would be a good time to fix both issues.

It is something with the gears underneath the seat. My second 4th gen has this problem and also my mother's 06 pathfinder did but it is still under extended warranty. We mentioned it to them and they had to replace the entire rail assembly under the seat...smh

your personal weight holds it down and keeps it stationary...
