Tein H Techs or Megan Racing Springs?

I know what you are all thinking... AGAIN WITH THIS SUSPENSION THREAD!?

Well, I have researched online (Google, Yahoo, Forums, Other car Forums etc.)

But there is no answer that i can see that persuades me either way but price. I am getting ready to soon lower my Max. She needs all new struts, axles, and Springs. About $1500 total, Parts and Labor.

Now, I will be using the KYB as they seem to be a better than OEM replacement but not a "racing" set of shocks. I have read about Tokico Blues, but read about a lot of blown ones too. The KYB seems to be a more solid set. (solid not meaning rough, but more durable).

With the springs though, im getting a lot of feedback but no real answer of "this ones better than that one." kinda thing. Both Megan and H Techs give about the same drop but im not sure which one is better than the other...

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The only one I've tried are the Eibachs.

Based on what I read, the teins are softer in the front compared to the megan, but they are rougher in the rear.

Also, megan offers a 1.7"F/1.7"R drop and tein H offer 1.6"F/1.0"R drop. Since the Tein H drop is smaller than the megan, and you are going with KYB Gr2, I would recommend the Tein H. Having a lower drop with the megan on the KYBs may hurt your struts...

Have you considered Eibachs?

I had a 97 Max with Eibachs and KYB GR2.....it was really nice!! Now I have an 02 Max with Eibachs and Tokico blues.....its a little more firm...BUT really sticks to the road big and outperforms the KYB GR2s in my opinion....no problems with them blowing at all.....those are my experiences.....Don't drop the car too much (like GIZMO said) the KYB GR2s aren't meant to handle too much drop. I would go with Tien H if you are debating between the 2 given your choice of shocks.

Here is close enough...no where near $300:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EIBAC...ht_1554wt_1090

You have to remember that modding a car is going to be expensive...there is no cheap way around it....if you going to be cheap just stay stock. Don't make no sense to put cheap low quality parts in your car just because you want it to be modded and look nice. If you don't have the money right now then wait and save a little more until you do have the money...the mods not going anywhere they been around for years..there is really no hurry...Id rather do my car right and buy quality parts than to be cheap and try to hurry and build something that will not last. You going to spend about $250 for springs and about $300 for shocks....might even be a good idea to replace upper strut mounts too....so about $600....and MORE if you not installing them yourself. Just my opinion.

Anytime I'm looking for springs, I always choose name brands but I buy off ebay. Always $30 or more cheaper than other places.

I have KYB GR2 + H-Tech. I got my Htech for $200 shipped3. Rides no different than stock I mean literally, better cornering and looks good ont he stance. Coming from Honda all my life, Maxima is a little harder to tune the suspension setup IMO. I don't have Megan spring, but H-Tech setup is dime a dozen here and everyone seems to like it. I'd say if you like going off and on the ramp at 60 mph or more then get Eibach, if you cruise most of the time get H-tech. I'm thinking of getting S-Tech now just for the look sake.

Im not going to be cheap lol. I am just a cheap person. I buy on value. If I can get something that does the exact same thing for a cheaper price then why not.... BUT if Eibacks are what is the best, and nothing else comes glose to its specs or ride then they are woth the value... Make sense? Maybe?

I feel you man...I don't have any experience with any other springs. I think Eibachs are good because they are not an agressive drop like some of the other springs I seen......some drop so low the tire sits under the fender wall. I think Eibachs make the car look really nice.....gets rid of that BIG AZZ Nissan gap. Here are some before and after pics of what mine look like with the Eibach springs and Tokico Blues:

BEFORE (UGLY AZZ FAT GAP) FRONT:

AFTER (Eibachs, Tokico Blues) FRONT:

Eibachs give a nice even drop that's true, but they are stiff... It's good for handling, but not too good for comfort. It's funny how the 17" rims are OK on stock springs but end up looking tiny after dropping the car...

I guess I'm used to riding on the Eibachs....they don't seem that stiff for daily driving to me. But I agree about the 17s looking small now....I'm getting 18" Enkei Racing PF01s......trying to go lightweight.

Dont know how labor is out there but here in Cali me I would order BC Coilovers...920 to your door on sale, 2 front axles like 275 tops brand new not reman. and install at a shop local, the coils for 250 or less since they are already assembled...total would be like $1445, but thats my area, but my strut and springs istalled myself, Good Luck though you can check out Shiftice.com for install tips.....

H&R makes great springs. The company has many miles of track tested research and development. I got to drive a friend's Porsche Cayman S with H&R springs and it was nearly a night and day difference. The Cayman is already a great handling car, and the springs made it even better. If I were going to purchase springs instead of coilovers, I'd go H&R, no doubt about it!

For what it's worth, I did exactly this some months back. I kept going back and forth wondering what to get, reading Hourecor's suspension page and looking at drops/reviews.

I ended up going KYB GR2s w/Tein H-Techs on my '02 Max SE. High on my list was keeping it even and not going too aggressive. The drop did end up very close to even considering the different sizes of the wheel wells on these cars. I just can't stand the sag look.

A small part of me wishes it was a tiny bit more aggressive on the drop but I'm mostly glad it isn't. They are fantastic on smooth to moderate roads but can be a tiny bit harsh on rough roads. If they were any more aggressive I might not enjoy it for daily driving, at least not on Cali roads. Find an above average highway/bridge gap or pothole and you'll really feel it in the rear. Note: this is on stock wheels/tire profile.

That said, I'm quite happy with the blend of function and form though I can't compare them to Megans. Here's a bigger pic of my sig for reference.

I have the same set up as SeedyROM. I have 245/45/18 on M45 rims and there is almost no gap. The ride is bit harsh on rough roads.
