stealership woes!

i took my baby for a checkup. heres the rundown:
1. pcv valve
2. both o2 sensors
3. induction system cleaning
4. ecu re-program
5. front and rear brakes and rotors
6. upper and lower radiator hoses

i want to flush radiator and tranny while im at it. guess im about 2 become a mechanic. o2 sensors and pcv shouldnt be a problem should they. heard tranny flushes arent that bad.

You can do all that stuff yourself and save TONS of money.

BTW, why are they saying that the ECU needs a reprogram and are you getting a code from the o2 sensors?

do it yourself or bring it to a reliable mechanic that you know. Screw the dealerships unless it's totally necessary to go there.

IF YOU CONFIRM:
An applied vehicle has the following symptoms:
· MIL 'ON' with DTC P0420 stored
AND
· Vehicle runs OK and does NOT have a misfire or driveability incident

ACTIONS:

1. Confirm this bulletin applies to the vehicle you're working on. Refer to the Repair Flow Chart on page 3 for details.
2. Compare the current ECM part number to Chart A on page 5.
· If your ECM part number is listed in Chart A, reprogram the ECM to the latest ECM data. See ECM REPROGRAMMING on page 6 for details. Do NOT replace any parts in this case.
· If your ECM part number is NOT listed in Chart A, you do not have to reprogram the ECM. But you will have to replace the Front Tube Assembly and the Front
H02S1-B1 Oxygen Sensor. See Parts Replacement on page 10 for

That will re-set it, not re-program it.

this is a 4 year old thread, but at least you searched and found something that semi-related to your question. for the part number, you can take a look at your ecu. sadly, I have never taken a look at it, and don't know how to remove it, get to it. hopefully someone who does will help you out.

also, you will not qualify to get it done for free, as the 8/80 period has long ended.
