weird power lock issue

This started recently....I'll press the unlock button once, it unlocks the drivers side (working as it should). I press unlock again and it unlocks the rest of the doors and then relocks all of them including the driver's side. I'll unlock with the key and the doors all re-lock. it takes like 2-3 times of unlocking to get them to stay unlocked.

Any idea on why? It's just annoying....

One of your power lock motors isn't fully unlocking.

My buddy ripped on my left rear door and snapped the rod that opens the door..the door nowdoesn't open From the inside, now when I use my key fob to unlock it will 1( unlock drivers) 2( unlock all) than locked all back up.... Check and make sure all your doors are fuctioning from the inside... Does the same thing when i try using key

So....what's the solution? I gotta get new power locks? lol Before I posted this thread, I did a search and there were quite a few threads like this, but no solution ever seemed to be posted.

It will be the one that's not unlocking. You should be able to tell by the lock position which one it is. You might be able to manually unlock/lock it to get it working again if it's just sticking.

I think you guys are getting confused as to what I described...everything unlocks when i push it twice but it just re-locks instantaneously. How do I go about figuring out which power lock is "stuck" if thats the case?

GGENIUS, learn how to read next time before you start with the derogatory attitude.

I know what u talkin about.

One of the doors (prolly passenger side) isnt fully locking. U prolly need to adjust the locking rod in the door.

Also, check anti-theft relay and all factory alarm equipment the may not have been removed.

If you can't tell by looking at the lock then the next easiest way would be to unplug the power window switch at each door. Do one door at a time. The door won't lock but if your other doors lock and stay locked you will know which door has the problem lock.

I'm not sure if its just the 99s that does this but I've had this same issue a couple times, don't know how to fix it but I just unlocked them all then started the car then tried locking and unlockin with the door panel then shut the car off. Got out and tried locking and unlocking again. I do know for me the problem came from when I go to unlock the doors someone pulls on the handle before it fully unlocks but I hope this helps

How would I go about adjusting the locking rod? What do I need to do? I'll try and do that before fixing any of the motors.

I have a 97 actually, so it appears to be a 97-99 issue I'd assume.

I have seen my 99 behave like this when someone pulled on a door handle at the same time that I was unlocking the car with the remote. fixed by manually unlocking the offending door from inside (pulling the lock lever out), then unlocking again with the remote to get it back in sync.

u need to remove the door trim. then remove the plastic bag weather guard. The locking rod connects the door handle lock to the locking mechanism. U can loosen a bolt that secures the rod and then move the rod up and down in the "slot" for the bolt u jus removed. The more u adjust the more flush the door handle lock should become.

On my car, the driver door lock solenoid was sticking because it was wearing out. When I used the power lock button or key fob to unlock the doors, the driver door lock latch was only unlocking 70% of the way. After I opened the door to get in my car, I had to pull on the door lock **** all the way out.

If I didn't do that, (because the door lock **** was sitting just between lock and unlock), any slight movement's would cause the **** the move slightly and cause all the doors to lock again and engage the alarm.

If the door lock solenoid is in fact the problem, you should be able to find a replacement part without too much trouble if search around.

One more thought: On some cars, if the key is left in the ignition and you try to lock the doors using the key fob or door switch, the locks lock, then immediately unlock again. It's a safety feature to keep you from locking your keys in the car. Don't know if the Max does that, and mine isn't at home to test, but if it does have that feature the sensor that detects the key in the ignition could be the issue.
