I am wondering that same thing. Almost seems too good to be true since they are only a quarter of the price as the others.

I have one, works good, pretty much ideal for reading the codes quickly and resetting the light...
the software which came with it suck, but you can find some free software online...
Over all it was a good investment for me... before I used to go to autozone and ask for a "free check engine light" but sure after a couple of trips I also got the "free attitude" from the people who worked there...
I would recommend 100%

no i have the bluetooth version... I can't remember the name of the software which I am using, but I had to change a couple of softwares until I found one that actually worked ... so far i've had this scanner for about a year and no problmes... you have to find on which port it actually connect on the computer and then set the obd2 software to read/write on that specific port...

I have used the little screw method countless times and it has helped me out immensely. I am just curious as to how accurate and helpful the data readings are from a scanner, specifically the cheap elm327, along with some decent software.

Ah, gotcha. I would assume it would pretty much be the helpful as the scanner used at o'reilly or another auto parts store. Which is fine, but the codes on the site are more helpful.

Does anyone know the trick to connecting the elm 327 to the android app Torque? The adapter is paired with my phone but will not connect my ecu to torque.
