Euro Intake Manifold >>>>>>>

it is funny how people are talking about the Euro Intake Manifold now, I actually thought of this about a year ago, and have some suprising info for you people, here is a copy of PART of what I wrote on the forum back in 11/15/00, it is doable but it will cost you some $$$, so read on:

Now I have asked JIM WOLF TECHNOLOGY engineers about this and they actually told me that if I can find a japanese spec CEFIRO 95-99 and get the intake manifold from it, they can reprogram my ECU with an added solinoid that they provided to operate the dual intake manifold from the Cefiro to work on our cars. The engineers say that 90% of the additional power made by the 2K motor is from this same dual intake manifold. The cost is $500 for programming and the solinoid is another $450. I have tried to look into this but can not find anyone that can get a used CEFIRO intake manifold from a japanese spec car. If you are able to find one for cheap, let me know, I may want to buy one too. Good Luck !!!!!!!

$950 is pretty rediculous for 20-25HP if you ask me. We can get very close to those gains from a $200 Y-pipe.

Can they reprogram our ECU to work w/ a 2k intake?

If this much $ was not an option for such a small gain, then that person would not have a Maxima in the first place.

It would be even more if you add in the cost of buying the actual manifold and shipping to the US, but I think it would be possible to rig something up using a $50 rpm switch, plus whatever it costs to get the manifold. Anyways Im looking into ways to get the manifold, I know another .org member, Roadbeast can get them for $750 plus shipping, but Im looking for a cheaper way first.

The Cefiro is a 2.5 NEO (Vtec) not a 3.0 so how do you think the manifold(s) would work i doubt they would? and why couldn't you just use the 2K maxima manifold

From what I was told or read that the 2K manifold and head is different so it will not just bolt on to the 4th gen. Also as for the Cefiro being a 2.5 liter, it could be the same block as our USA engine just a different stroke or bore making it a 2.5 liter. Look at the BMW engines the 2.5 liter all the way up to the 3.0 liter are all pretty much interchangeable the difference being bore/stroke, maybe cams, etc. Also if the Ceferio is a 2.5 liter engine I believe it makes also 190 hp, so if the only difference is the intake manifold, imagine bolting on the Cefiro intake manifold to OUR USA 3.0 liter engine so surely it will make about 220-225 HP.

How is that ridiculous??? Thats sounds about right for the amount of HP to $$ ratio. How much power does a supercharger give you?....The claims are 80hp but thats Stillen being very generous with the hp claims. Its more like 65 with the stock pully. The price of a supercharger is $3500 for 65 hp so the intake manifold mod is not that bad of mod if it can be done.

BTW - a y-pipe doesnt give 20-25 HP is more like 12 HP.

Also, it's another modification that would be available for the car.

here's the run down of what i'm thinking: WSP Mandrel-Bent Y-Pipe - 15 hp/17 tq, PR CAI - 6hp/6tq, JWT ECU - 10HP 10 TQ (not at peak, at midrange), Var Manifold - 25-30 HP with all the others. that's almost 60 HP and almost as much torque. Almost supercharger-quality results for about half the price and no reliability problems as far as popping pulleys and tuning the damn bugger so much. sound good to me, anyone else think so?

I think it would be very worth it to do this mod. If you can get that kind of output with out having to do an engine swap, I definitely think it would be worth 1k or so. I'd definitely purchase one of those. It's a shame Jim Wolf or Stillen wouldn't take the part and just mass produce it.

Does anyone know the actual switchover rpm on the double-runner intake?
