Let me first preference this by saying I have a 5sp,Y and universal muffler. I have only driven the car in temperatures between 30F and 50F.


I added a JWT intake and have notice absolutley no lag or loss of low end whatsoever. I should have added it months ago, the intake coupled with the muffler is a wonderful symphony @ WOT. Perhaps I won't be all grins in 5 months when it is 95 degrees outside.

Ivolley, im glad you think u felt no lost low end, but its proven that torque is lost. Hopefully it'll continue to work for ya.

 

That's why I emphasized maybe it is because of the frigid temps but searched the org for a month reading 100s of post many by you (Craig Mack 4K degrees) once it is hot again and if I notice a loss in low end I will get a CAI. Craig most of the post I read said autos took a bigger hit on low end loss. Someone mentioned that 5 sps can launch above the loss. BOttom line I am

 

Many of the arguments have to do with an intake on autos. Thats why I don't have one.

I got a test for you...

start off slowly and only tap the gas until you are at 2000rpms then punch it. You should notice a delay that you never used to have until you get to about 3500 at which point the car really picks up and moves.

this is the torque loss people talk about

 

Proven by what? People's butt dynos? On the dyno, my Maxima with a POP intake made more torque at all rpms than my "Poorman's CAI". There is no loss in lowend power with the POP intake.

Dave, do you think that because people develope much more power on the top end that it appears to lose on the bottom end? when really it is just that you make a little more low end power and a lot more top end power

 

Highly odd, i experience this all the time on my stock 2k2. Below 3500 - 4000 rpm the car seems sluggish, but once it goes beyond that i actually feel the "VTEC" effect where the car's pull is more prominent.

 

ya in noticed that i little too. the intake plenum switches path at 3800rpns. that's prolly why

 

I feel the same effect in my 2K but at many RPMS.

2,800rpms I feel the TQ developing and the engine revvs faster past this point
4,000rpms I have the sensation of stronger acceleration, I think the the intake changes path.
5,000rpms It pulls even stronger all the way to redline.
