2K2 Auto Tranny have factory trans cooler?

I have no idea ... does the 2K2 Automatic have a factory transmission cooler?

Kind of. It looks like it's meant to warm it up and then keep it at a constant temp ( not necessarily as cool as you might like ).

Here's more info:

Oh, one more thing... If it's really your birthday ... Happy Birthday!

It is more of a heat exchanger that brings the tranny fluid temperature up to normal after a cold start. It won't act as a cooler. If you do plan on driving hard with your auto, a Hayden or B&M cooler is a worthwhile investment. Plus, they are pretty cheap

Yes, it is my birthday (28th) ... thanks!

As for the trans cooler ... the setup that everyone is describing is very similar to ones used on other cars. Noteably, the SVT Contour has a similar setup for the manual transmission and the Cougar/Contour has a similar setup for the Automatic Transmission.

remove two tranny fluid lines going into the heat exchanger below radiator. Route them to the tranny cooler and mount tranny cooler on the AC condensor behind the front grill. I think there was a how-to in the sticky thread up top.

I'd love to see how someone would mount an add-on trans cooler to a Cougar/Contour/Mystique with the V6. That is one tight engine bay.

I currently drive a 99 Contour SVT. That thing is a blast to drive around here in Austin, Texas. I really have been impressed with the car and handling.

Anyway, currently planning on selling it in the near future to buy something with more room.

These cars were so underrated.
