now that I got your attention........

stock shocks coupled with aftermarket springs.......how many of you have this combination?

I've got 25K already on my year old Max. I should be putting in HR's in about a week. How much longer you think before I'll need to change my shocks?

On average, after how many miles should shocks/struts be replaced anyway?

Thanks in Advance!!

You won't have to replace your struts yet. Unless you're itching for another new mod.

Tokico and Koni are the only choices... unless you want to be a test subject for Cattman's project.

The point is there is no real saying how long your stock shocks will last. It depends greatly on your driving conditions, the way you drive, how many miles are on your car and how old your car is. With that said, your stock shocks won't last long under normal driving conditions. Some people have gone 5-10K miles on there stock shocks but many other have had problems from hte get go.

Kevin{no g, no ewok }. Truth is I upgraded my shocks and springs at the same time, as you know it's a whole lot easier to do that way .

Koni? They make Koni's specifically for the 5th gen?

i had the eibach/stock shock set-up before i got my Toks. i'd say that i got about good 20,000 miles before my shocks were screaming 'i quit'. but that 20,000 miles are mostly on freeways and not on race track.

Ive had Eibachs with the stock SE shocks since the car had about 100 miles on it. Im now near 14,000 miles and Ive had no problems. Ive been thinking about replacing the stock shocks, but I think I will wait a little longer. By the way, I bought the car in May of 2000

lets juss say

i have progress springs and ive had em on for about 6k miles or so...theyre soooooooooo worn its not even funny, but a broke, job-less guy like me cant do anything about it...when i turn on incline/decline, i can hear my left front shock groan...tis a very bad situation...someone juss confirm, but having bad shocks doesnt mess my suspension up does it?

why spend extra $500 on new shocks & labor? You can be just fine with new springs. Stock parts should last you 5 yrs. My friend has a 95 GLE, and only recently had to replace his shocks at 110K mi. Save your money.

cattman is retro fitting some, they should be done by the new year. and you need to replace the whole setup, not just springs y2kGXe

The warranty on the stock shocks are null & void because of the higher spring rates on the H&R springs.
