Need help with Short Throw Shifter Install
Need help with Short Throw Shifter Install
Alright, I just got an OBX-R short throw shifter yesterday. From what everyone has said it's an easy job. I dropped the exhaust off the hangers to get some room. I unbolted the 4 main bolts and removed the spring. The problem I'm having is I can't get the bolt to slide out of the shifter.

The bolt circled in red. I got the nut off the other end, but it just won't budge out of the stock shifter.
Anyone have any ideas? I could really use some input, I've been at this for 2 hours and my car is stuck outside on stands until I can get this finished.

The good news: The bolt came out finally.
The bad news: The stock bolt does not fit with the OBX-R shift assembly and it did not come with new bolts to replace the stock one. Now I'll need to find something at the hardware store or possibly have a bolt custom machined to fit in it's place. Sigh...

Yea, when I got my B&M it either came with a new bolt or I used my old one can't remember been a while. But I remember everything bolted right up. Been happy ever since. Why a obx? Though?
^ This. I don't have $100+ to dump into a short shift. The OBX-R actually seems to be high quality. I can't really tell until it's installed though. The bolt is a minor inconvenience. Annoying yes, but not impossible to work around. I'm having a local shop machine a custom bolt to replace the stock. It'll be direct custom fit. Once I get the bolt tomorrow, I can put everything back together.
I looked for a B&M shifter but it appears they don't make them anymore. They don't sale them on their webpage or anywhere else from what I could find. I already own a few OBX-R performance parts on my Max and they are all holding up and work great. Figured I'd get the same from the short shift.

The B&M uses the stock bolt, for the person that was commenting on it.
Regardless, The shifter went in today. Shifts nicely. It has a much sportier feel then before. Feels like driving a new car.

It's all one solid piece. I couldn't actually believe that even the stock shifter has a plastic ball.
