usually indicates low brake fluid. have the stealership (or do it yourself) top off your brake fluid and it should stay off. if it comes back on after that then you may have a leak somewhere

I know the problem you have a nice v6 under the hood and the cvt can be a litttle jerky sometime, so the problem is your losing traction because your gassing it so hard.
who needs traction anyways turn it offf.

^ dont listen to that please. have your brake levels checked, your car is disabling VDC thats why the light is coming on.

thanx for the speedy reply , thinking about it now im sure that is what it is as i know the brake fluid is low since i have seen the brake fluid light come on as well when going up a steep incline . i wasnt aware that the brake fluid would trip the traction control light as well . thanks again for the help .

a strange "feature" i dont fully understand. after having my front brake pads worked on my VDC and e-brake light kept coming on randomly while driving. had my buddy top off (i mean literally top off) the brake fluid and voila!

I had the same problem with my 09 SV. I topped off the fluid and the problem went away.

This happen to me today while takeoff from a light and stayed on untill I got a chance to park and restart. I also might add the weather today was -40 with windchill first cold snap this year, I hope it has nothing to do with it. But I will top up the fluid to max & hope it helps.

Yup, I had the same problem took it to the shop and the brake fluid ended up being the culprit.

Just purchased an 09 this weekend and want to thank you guys for this thread/site the minute we drove off the lot the traction control light and brake light came on. Knowing knowlege from experience is the best I googled maxima forums and found this in a matter of minutes. Checked the brake fluid level and sure enough was lower than it was when I scoped out the engine at the dealership so began looking for a leak. Driver side tire was nice and shiney on the inside BINGO! Started pulling out my floor jack and tool bag when my wife came outside to ask what the hell I was doing. Told getting to the bottom of the problem, then she reminded me we had warranty and take it to the dealership. Never had a vehicle with warranty before lol

Good sleuthing, RVG09MAX. Let us know what the service folks had to do to fix this leak.

I have the exact same problem and I am glad I read this. I will top the fluid off this weekend and hopefully this would solve the problem. Thanks!
